Default Slick's goin to the Hall Of Fame baby

I'm 30 years old, I've been a Pacers fan since I was born. The hell else is a kid from Montgomery County gonna do, root for the friggin Bulls? Yes, Reggie made it fun, but Reggie draining jumpers isn't what I remember from the old days. I know a lot of you are far older than me, and have far longer a history with the franchise than me, I have no memory of Slick other than him calling games.

But every single time I hear his voice, and I'm not exaggerating, somewhere in the back of my mind I get a twinge of watching the Pacers on WTTV4. Sprawled out hands on chins on my Grandma's ratty *** puke green carpet next to my punk *** twin brother. Grandma loved the Pacers almost as much as she loved me, every time Reggie'd bomb a 3 and Slick would give one of his BOOM BABY's she'd let out a little giggle.

Grandma passed 3 years ago, she was 92 and until the end didn't take any **** from anybody. Every single time I hear a Slick call I remember that giggle, and I thank him for it.

Roger Brown, Reggie Miller, Mel Daniels and George McGinnis are all legends.

Herb & Mel Simon are hero's because they kept this franchise here and provided it for the community when others might have picked up and moved on.

But there is only one person who is Mr. Pacer. From being a fiery coach, to an advocate having to do things he didn't want to do because the franchise had no money to being the kind sage broadcaster that he has been for many seasons now.

Bob "Slick" Leonard is Pacers basketball and always will be to me.

Very happy to finally see him get in the HOF. Happy for Slick and his family. Glad to see him here to enjoy it with his fans, friends and family.

Very cool story. Thank you for sharing.

Hearing Slick and Mark call Indiana Pacer basketball is a true privileged. We are lucky as fans.

They just interviewed him on the red carpet. Can't wait for the induction, even if I think Stern should have had to wait 5 years to go into the Hall instead of two weeks while Slick waited way too long.

I watched the show last night.

Moving is the only word I can use.

I'm going to be honest with you, I can't believe how emotional Larry Bird was during his interview segments. That part about him wanting to assist Slick with the last shot at MSA and then he said it may have meant nothing to many people but meant everything to them was as emotional as I have ever seen Larry Bird. I honestly believe the two of them are close.

Although this upcoming season is going to probably be a drag, tonight is a night for all Pacer fans to celebrate. One of our own, the greatest of all of us (I say us because there is no bigger Indiana Pacer fan than Bobby "Slick" Leonard.) is going to the hall of fame.

Nobody deserves to be in there more that Slick.

I could listen to slick lecture on basketball history all day long.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

That was a great speech. I doubt there have been many speeches back to back as good as his and Richardson's. I can't wait to see the documentary when I can get my hands on it.

I think Slick got tired of talking and decided to end his speech a bit early. He has stories for days. I've never heard the one about the snake though.
    Congrats to Slick!

By the way, my wife talked to her mom, Slick's sister, and she said she had never heard the snake story, but she did remember the mean lady with the pear tree!

David Stern getting the A-list video presentation. First Russell, then Bird, then Magic, then Jordan, then Duncan, then Kobe, and finishing with LeBron.

Lebron would like everyone to know that the nba is the most popular online sport in the country.

You can hate stern's policy all you want buy there is no other guy you'd want to grab a beer with and just chat randomly about basketball with or life in general. He's very likeable when he isn't in official capacity.

I dont know about that, but he became so hilariously awesome at egging on the draft crowds near the end of his tenure.....

The show about Stern which aired on NBATV was very interesting. It is obvious he loves the game and wants to do the best for it. I don't agree with everything he has done, but one has to admit the league made strides under his leadership.

"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.
