Kyle Schwarber is absolutely killing it for the Cubbies. If they miss the playoffs by a game or two I would expect Madden would get heat for not getting him up earlier.

Nah, they are ahead of schedule being this good this year. Maddon will get no heat.

Funny for the Cubs that they have the fourth best record in the majors, but are in third place in their own division. The NL Central is brutal.

I'm sure Epstein values his opinion, but it's not even Maddon's call when they bring a guy up is it?

Nah, I think it's an organizational decision.

I'm a RedSox fan and I'm enjoying watching what Theo is doing with the Cubs. He did it for the Sox and is well into the process of doing it for the Cubs. I think at this point he's got to be in the conversation of greatest GMs (and he's only 41 - damn). Should the Cubs win a title under him - then I think he goes to the top of the list. The guy is simply a baseball genius. He puts a plan together and executes it. I wouldn't question any move he makes. I'm not sure a whole lot of them in his career have been wrong.

Theo is great. In fairness though, he has had almost unlimited resources in Boston and Chicago. That being said...history is riddled with GMs that failed in those same markets.

10 years ago this would have been huge news. It is crazy how much this country has progressed lately.

Bryan Mitchell exits game after being hit in face by comebacker

Yankees right-hander Bryan Mitchell was forced to exit tonight’s game against the Twins in the top of the second inning after he was in the hit in the face by a ball off the bat of Eduardo Nunez.

It was a very scary scene at Yankee Stadium. Mitchell was still in the follow-though of his pitch and wasn’t able to get his glove up in time. He was on the ground for a moment before walking off the field with a towel covering his face.

We’ll pass along more information when it’s made available. Here’s hoping for the best.

Jaime's Garcia having the best year of his career and I'm just waiting to wake up to some bad news about his arm but he's just found money at this point and it's honestly just really cool to see after all his problems
