Ryan Burton has scheduled a press conference. It's suspected he will announce his return.

So, these ego'ed up players, thinking they'd be one and done and then doesn't end up that way, does that negatively impact recruiting at some point? Is it seen as players not reaching their expected potential, or players with too much faith in their own abilities? And for recruiting purposes does it matter why they couldn't reach the goal to jump to the pros early?
No one ever though Blackmon would be one and done.

Part of this is Crean too, he has zero control over the program. These kids run around like crazy people. It's insane it took Blackmon this long to announce.

It means they were not good enough to begin with. The only damage is a temporarily bruised self-esteem.

Its insane that he felt he needed to do an announcement at all.

Meh the announcement itself isn't what bothers me in this case, but dragging it on til the 23rd is goofy

This stuff doesn't really bother me all that much. Star college basketball players with huge egos isn't exactly a new phenomenon.

I guess, more than anything, I thought it was weird how much Crean appeared to bow down to Blackmon in that press conference. He was giving him the full LeBron treatment, like he was lucky to share the same air as him. Just thought it was weird. It reminded me of how Crean was with Zeller, but I understood that because that was a statement recruit and the commitment that made national rankings possible again. It just seemed so weird, to me, to be coddling Blackmon as much as he was.

Well, if Crean pretends and presents these student athletes as something more than they actually are in the world of college basketball then it stands to reason it's also about himself in some way. One way or another.

All of what once passed as passion from Crean is now just looking like more smarminess (not sure that is really a word but it makes my point). From the monkey on a string sideline theatrics all game long to this 'press conference' to announce the sky is blue with a 'star' player.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Maybe Crean had him slotted for Creaning and had to backtrack? Green?

Yogi Ferrell is an embarrassment. He's not even close to being good enough to have a special announcement day. Stop the ****ing shenanigans and tell IU your plans. This is a joke. If he says he's going pro then good luck in the D-League Yogs. Hope your family makes enough to pay your rent, what with you making 25k a year if that. If he don't come back to IU, then he's just a very unintelligent, misinformed young man that no one will hear from, from this year forward. All bias aside, this kid is an idiot. He needs to stop this mess and just declare his intentions asap.

Yogi really should have just released it as soon as he decided. Just tweet it even.
