LOL i'm not sure why everyone is so sensitive on viewing the video clip or screen shots. It happens so quickly you just see his leg snap. Its not like he gets amputated. No blood, you can't see his mangled leg on the ground.

Some people are simply squeamish to the sight of a body part folding in a manner that it shouldn't. I can see blood(like a ton of blood) and not freak out, but watching a guy's leg snap like a matchstick makes me nauseous.

The vidoe I don't mind so much. The worst are the zoomed in still photos of the moment you can see his bone touching the basketball court.

I still haven't seen it and don't want to.

I got so angry this morning when I switched on my radio to the awful Miami Heat homer morning shock jocks (I live in south Florida). The first thing I heard from them: "You'd have to think that Frankhole* is relieved, since now there is now no way he can ever be fired next year"

*Frankhole = their name for Frank Vogel.
    Let them have their salt.

Paul George will be back in a Pacers uniform in a year.

    Lebron ain't ever coming back.

Well, I'd say your username is apt.

It should be noted, that when Ramsey broke his leg, he was a player with a ton of potential who at the time quite simply, wasn't that good yet. So when he talks about Ramsey looking like a ghost of who he was at first, remember that he was nowhere near who he is now from a talent perspective. He still had a lot of developing to do.

Also, I think mentally for Paul, he should just blame it on the stanchion and it's placement. Whether that is true or not, it should help his ability to process what happened mentally. Whereas Ramsey's was one of the most brutally vicious and dirty tackles I have ever seen.

Well now I am hearing the Stanchion was only 1" off from NBA regulations. That just seems hard to believe when you see the the side by side screen shots vs the Bankers Life Stanchion.

I heard that too, but even 1" could be the difference between a broken leg or not. Four feet is way to close to the baseline and can we please do something about those camera people. It will probably take another horrific injury before they address that issue if at all.

4 feet is the minimum, however most if not all NBA arenas have more room.

I don't know if it was confirmed or not, but I believe Paul was planning on changing his number to 13.

I'm also wondering if there was a chance that Paul had some sort of pre-existing stress fractures in his leg? Alot of times guys with shin splints get hairline fractures in their shins. When something that is normall strong is already scored in someway, it becomes much easier to break or tear. These kinds of injuries are so rare, I would think some sort of pre-existing condition might have been present.

The stanchion at BLF is well back of the NBA regulation. I think 18 inches further back as are most NBA arenas.

Nobody has a comment on the camera/media people? It's ridiculous how close they sit to the baseline.

It is definitely ridiculous and it's a risk for everyone involved. Cameramen are lucky they aren't being kicked in the head or body accidentally (not Rodman-style) constantly.

UB would be correct per IndyStar:

I know things happen quickly, but a human does have the ability to move unlike the stanchion.

Yeah, I posted a few days ago about Ramsey's injury, the main positive I take from his recovery is the fact that he was able to become a really good player despite having that horrible injury at such a young age.
The fact that he was able to improve so much and fulfil his potential AFTER what happened to him is reassuring.

I also trully believe Paul's recovery should be quicker and smoother because:

    1. Paul already knows who he is, he is already a fantastic player. Ramsey was a promising young talent, but a fringe player at the time, trying to find his way.

    2. Psychologically, football is a much more scary sport for someone who was injured in this manner, especially in England, where ferocious tackles go flying towards your legs in every game.

    3. Arsenal is a huge club that signs new midfielders every summer. So when Ramsey recovered (physically), he had to fight for playing time with lots of players who were just better than him at that point.
It was difficult for him to build up his confidence
The Pacers on the other hand are completely dependant on Paul, he is undoubtedly our best player, and when he returns, he'll be inserted into the starting lineup immediately
and will be able to get his rythem, confidence and sharpness back much faster IMO.

I've wanted the stanchions moved back ever since Rotnei Clarke almost broke his neck on one. This only amplifies my concern about them. 4 feet isn't enough. These are giants going full speed. These injuries should be 100% preventable. Rotnei Clarke's, Nerlens Noel's, and PG's.

Of course, if the NBA did move them back they'd probably just put seats in front of one.

What's the average stride of an NBA athlete while running? I don't know hwat it is, but I would guess 6 feet or more. The stanchion should be that far away at least. 4 feet is kind of a joke.

Better movable seats (and bodies) to run into than immovable goalposts if you ask me.

65 inches should be the NBA and FIBA minimum. If an arena can't make it happen immediately, they should get two years to either make it possible to move them back through renovations, or be on the roadmap to being replaced by a new arena if they wish to continue hosting NBA and Team USA events.

I love PG and all, but just think if Larry Bird didn't decide to give PG the MAX Extension before the start of last season? PG probably wouldn't have been in participating in TEAM USA camp with out contract under his belt. I've always been on the side of you don't give out max extensions until you absolutely have too.
