It's pathetic that someone his age was even allowed to continue refereeing to this point. So irresponsible.

I appreciate his dedication and commitment to the game for so many years, but this is definitely overdue. I wish him the best in his retirement.

This is probably overdue, but Dick was a man of integrity. I hope he sticks around in some capacity.

Wasn't there a rumor he was going to be one of the cheerleaders for the Knicks? I mean, not all things have to change just because you're retiring, right?

Maybe it is just be being sentimental with my post earlier. For as long as I can remember watching NBA basketball I remember Bavetta reffing. Granted he was never the best, but I suppose it will just be unusual to watch NBA basketball without Bavetta patrolling the court.

    See you later "Knick" Bavetta.

That video shows exactly how a ref(s) can takeover a game. Bavetta made obvious mistakes and yet he was still allowed to keep his job and probably received nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

To me he represents a lot of what is wrong with NBA refs and I am glad that he's retiring (if the report is correct).

    ).
He hadn';t worked an NBA Finals game in several years and hasn't worked a conference finals games in almost as long.

Probably should have retired after losing a foot race to a 350lb backwards trotting Charles Barkley.......and that was 7 years ago.
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right. ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

Only 14.5 years since I called Kevin Lee after this game (the end of our 25-game home winning streak) asking when Bavetta was going to retire.

    To Mr. Bavetta,

David Stern appreciated your service and your dedication to the "enhancement of league marketability" that was a hallmark of his player-centric promotion of the league.

Now you may feel free to profit handsomely in relative obscurity from your insights into both the actual game as well as league promotional preference as a consultant to NBA bookmakers worldwide.

I remember during the various NY vs. Indiana playoff series in the '90s many around here referred to him as Knick Bavetta.

Here's an old article from Simmons. http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/...simmons/020606

Scroll down to the 6th question, the most disturbing subplot of the playoffs.

    My point exactly.

But of any single call, Kersey's is still the worst to me.
