The last time the Pacers gave a guy his "last hope" was DJ Augustin, and he failed badly here, but managed to snag on to the Bulls somehow and succeed.
If this is a cheap contract I have no problem with it, 1 year is already a good start, can trade him if needed as well.
Larry Bird needs to hold a Rick Pitino conference and go: Lance Stephenson isn't walking through that door...and if he is he's going to be angry and crazy.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."
----------------- Reggie Miller
Can't we move like a 1st, Hill, Copeland/Scola for a better starting point guard or am I dreaming like a mofo? lol
Here on the 1 year vet minimum. Surely he's off the bench with Miles starting so.
Change is neither good or bad, it simply is.
Because we have one very good shooter on our team that is a perimeter player.
PG and Hill are scorers, they aren't shooters.
Shooting is essential. You want pretty offense and ball movement? Gotta have shooters. You want the ability to score in the post? Gotta have shooters.
I'm not Jim O'brien. I don't want my team to only take jump shots. But you need to have players capable of making jump shots so that teams choose to guard those players. With another player that can't hit the three consistently added to our lineup, "pack it in" is going to continue to be an effective method of defense against us.
Hopefully Miles plays really well and starts.
Now, this really isn't a bad deal..because if he causes problems..just cut him. But there had to be better fits available.
I forgot to mention his best trait. He is the only one in the world who doesn't know he can't shoot. That is even more frustrating. Someone postef Lances high fg% and said it is deceptive because he shoots so many close shots. Well no ****? I would prefer that than chucking shots. Knowing yoh own gamr is an undervalued skill. Players egos normally get in the way.
We will be near the luxury tax line, 14 million over the salary cap. To sign a guy for 10M, we'd need to shave off about 24 million bucks. Scola, Copeland, Watson, Stuckey isn't halfway there. Hibbert and West have player options and no way on Earth do they opt out.
You'd have to dump Hibbert to a way-way-way under-the-cap team for nothing.
bottom line: no free agents next year of significance.
This is your Pacers for the next 2 years.
It's trade or play with what we've got.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!).
I'm (maybe) back after being repetedly banned, merely for supporting a different NFL team than do certain forum moderators.
This thread is full of lols - thanks for the amusement
For a moment I thought Troy Murphy was coming back on a giant contract and JOB got rehired as head coach.
follow me @TruenoPanda - lets talk Pacers!
Yep I forgot you can ISO him in the post. Look I'm not trying to over sell him, but I remember several times he gave the Pacers problems. He'd burn hit then kinda disappear iirc. But when he was hot, he was a very tough cover. I don't know if it was conditioning or mental fatigue/lack of interest
if hes not motivated by get min on a one yr deal then I'm not sure what will.
side note : I always thought he looked liked 50 cent.
Time for a new sig.
It would be awkward to see Stuckey start over Miles wouldn't it, considering the contract given to both coming in lol
It's better than nothing, I guess. At least we don't have to depend on Solo or Rudez. Honestly I'd rather have Turner, but I doubt he would have signed for the vet minimum.
Time for a new sig.
