Default Put your money where your mouth is (so to speak)

Okay let's just declare our feelings on this right now and understand that it is totally subject to change due to other roster moves.

For the sake of this poll let's pretend that we enter the season as is, no additional roster moves at all other than maybe re-upping Donald Sloan.

This is a good time for you pro-Lance and anti-Lance people to make your declarations.

For those of us who were middle of the ground when it comes to Lance this is going to be tougher but I'm not going to wimp out on making this a hard choice.

It does something for sure, but it doesn't mean the window is closed.. I think these threads are a bit odd considering it's still pretty early in the offseason.

Championships or at the very least Eastern Finals runs.

Top 4 team in the EAST, yes. Top 8 team in the NBA, yes. Gun to my head if I had to pick I went with closer to contender than window closed, but still not exacty what I think. Really can't wait to see what CJ Miles and Solo look like to know how I feel exactly.

I'm sad to lose Lance he was one of my favorite Pacers ever. I truthfully have absolutely no clue how it will affect the team. Last year was such a weird season there's just nothing we can do except wait and see.

I really don't know how I feel. My gut tells me the window with the current group is closed or possibly already was. My heart tells me to keep believing. We'll see what happens I guess.

I expect Paul, Hill, and Hibbert to be better this year than last.

I expect West to be slightly worse.

If we have Miles and Solo replace Lance, in other words no other moves, I expect them to give us 90% of Lance's production.

Absolutely we are a top 3 team in the East next year. Not a doubt in my mind. Lance was a role player for us the last two years, and we will replace him with role players this year. As always, we will go as far as Paul, David, George, and Roy take us.

I'm going to vote a top 4 team, but I think it's more like a top 6 team.

With the loss of Lance and if we remain with the current roster.... I see a 6 or 7 seed for the Pacers next year. Lance Stepehenson IMHO will be an all star next season and his big advantage is he can play a physical game with speed. I would have liked to see that progression continue with the PAcers. Too bad, but I've been a fan since the ABA days so no Lance doesn't change my allegiance.

I was not a fan of bringing Lance back, but that was also with the understanding that we would replace him with someone relatively comparable talent-wise.

As currently constructed, I think we're a 46-50 win team.

I just don't see Lance as much more than a role player who didn't understand his role. Losing him doesn't set us that far back. But we were pretty far from a championship last year.

And with West being another year older, I just don't see it.

Pacers will be #1 in East, will add another piece big or small, losing Lance addition by subtraction.

I tend never to declare a team top 4 because so much can happen in the playoffs. I feel like making the second round is basic to being a top team, after that it depends so much on who you match up against.

I'll say top 4 because I'm closer to that than I am to "blow it up and try to build it back in 3-5 years simply because we lost Lance".

If we make no other moves I think we are a .500 team, give or take a few games either way, with the potential to be even worse than that.

Not because of just losing Lance either.

We've been lucky with injuries to our starters the last two years. I expect DWest to continue declining. I think losing him makes it much tougher on PG.

I also think we built our team to beat a team that no longer exists so our size advantage is now not as big of a plus.

I'm not sure we're top 4 in the league, but definitely top 4 in the East.

Even with Lance, a championship is not a given, let alone a Finals appearance. If the Pacers brought back Lance but Roy Hibbert turned into Eeyore again then the Pacers wouldn't sniff a Finals appearance anyway.

I think the Pacers will still be a top 4 team in the EAST but will be eliminated in the second round. But I might have said that a month ago.

It may be but the reality is it's not that far out of the spectrum either if you look very specifically at what I'm asking. I'm talking the minimum of Eastern Conf. finals, anything less is a step back. Now of course injury or other circumstance can change that but I'm talking "as is".

We were by definition a top 4 team last year as we got to the E.C. finals thus making us one of the only 4 teams standing. We can't play the what if games of if we were in the west or if certain WC teams played in the East. We can only go by what was.

So with that in mind, the Pacers as currently constructed, are they a title contender or not? By contender I specifically mean E.C. finalist.
