Thread: Lance Is The Enemy Now.....

Default Lance Is The Enemy Now.....

I thought you loved Indiana. Thats all you've been saying for the past few weeks. You've been attending fundraisers and charity function here for the past few weeks. On the news talking about how you love the city and how much you love Bird. Well you bolted to a team that is worse than the one you left for almost the same amount of money....So you obviously cared more about getting paid than you do about winning.

I am a fan of the team first. I supported you as much as anyone. I understand that you may not have gotten along with some of your teammates(Hibbert, Hill). I understand you want to play a faster pace. I agree with you. I also think you might want to be the man which you knew wouldn't happen with Paul George here but it won't happen in Charlotte either because they have one of the best centers in the league in Al Jefferson and they have Kimba Walker also. You are the 3rd best player on that team when you were the 2nd best player on Indiana....

I also understand you wanted to play for MJ but there's not much difference in playing for Bird or playing for MJ. Either way you're playing for arguably a top 5 player of all time, and neither will put up some of your antics.

Will miss your exciting brand of ball but you are the enemy now. Good luck in all your future endeavors......

    Peace bro

Unfortunately your tirade is misplaced. You should be chastising Larry Bird for not giving Lance a shorter deal. The 9 million was a bargain. Bird chose to keep Scola and Damjan Rudez over Lance.

I think a longer deal was actually flattery. They're saying we want you here long term, so you can grow here, grow your game, and become an elite player alongside PG. A shorter deal is reserved for players who are troubled or coming off injuries. And need to prove themselves for awhile before they get big money. If Lance left for basketball reasons I can see why.

Hill and Roy don't compliment his game, and Vogel has no clue on offense. I also think they could've still signed him at the original offer. And made moves to get under the tax.

This is just not true. He's been great with fans, always out at events around town. Leaving doesn't mean he didn't like Indy or Bird.

Cavs vs. Hornets could be an entertaining playoff series.

I know what you're saying but I agree with grimp. I think the 5 year deal was Larry showing Lance that he was invested in him and his future and that he wanted him here.

I don't feel animosity toward Lance. The fact he rejected our offer and took Charlotte's tells me he really had no strong desire to be here. With this being the case it is better he is gone IMO.

Granger Is The Enemy Now....oops, sorry, forgot the Pacers cut his throat. Just in fun Timid, I hated to see Lance go too, but yes it's a business #1 for those guys.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

    Lance's signing made no sense.

He took less money. He took less years (aka security). He went to a non-contender
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Utah Jazz should be the enemy or maybe Gordon Hayward. Why did you have to match that crazy offer Utah?

If they lose Hayward bye bye ticket sales. Hayward looks like someone who'd live in Utah. That's a place that needs to cling to all the stars they can get. You thought WE had problems getting free agents??????

    maybe?

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Who do you think is the 2nd best player on the team if Lance were here? I feel he's the best all around player behind Paul George. They were the 2 best 2 way players on the team.

And I didn't mean enemy as in I dislike the guy. In fact, I still do like him. I just mean, when he plays us, we should go for blood. Ill hate him when he's facing us just like pretty much any other opponent....

then one of two things are true... Pacers did not want him... or Lance never wanted to come back.

Lance is a child. He is back in "born ready mode".. Really bad for Hornets.

    Good Luck Lance....

There's fault to go around on both sides.

It never seemed like Lance went out of his way to re-sign with us. It also doesn't make sense how Bird wouldn't have gotten rid of Scola or Cope if it's the difference in keeping Lance, and how do you justify paying George Hill $9M a year but not Lance?

His signing with Charlotte makes a lot of sense. Had we offered say 5 years and 55-60 milion USD he would have signed here. Had we offered say 3 years and 27-30 milion USD I think he would have signed here aswell. We chose to only offer him a 5 year contract at a fairly low p/y salary for someone with his qualities and potential.

We didnt offer him a 3 year deal at say 27-30 milion USD, so he could try to get a raise after that contract, which I think he is pretty likely to get barring an injury or him suddenly falling of the face of the (basketball) earth, but kept pushing a 5 year deal at what he considered a too low salary. Im convinced we could have made some room somewhere to accomodate some of his desires, but we chose not too.

The future will show us whether we were right or wrong making this call, but I think what Lance did wasnt as irrational as some of you do. He left a lot of money on the table with our offer, but he will have a chance to get a much bigger salary in 3 years. Its a bit of a gamble, but theres no doubt he feels he is up to the task.
