We'll probably run more offense through the post, and we'll have more space in the lane since Miles can actually shoot. We could also start Watson and Hill in the backcourt. Hopefully PG comes back an improved playmaker too. Lance was pretty clearly in the middle of alot of our chemistry problems and dominated the ball way too much, which rubbed numerous players the wrong way.

Lance needs a better agent if he thinks he can play the shorter contract to get a max deal plan....

There's nothing wrong with initially being selfish and testing the market. Hibbert/West/PG/Hill all got paid, so Lance had every right to do the same. The problem is when stupidity enters the picture. Feeling "disrespected" when the Pacers offer you the best deal and then taking something clearly worse is definitely pretty stupid. It's a point scored for all of the people who warned that there are red flags to Lance.

I absolutely hate that we are losing his talent because I wanted to see him and PG grow together, but I certainly can't be mad at the front office or ownership here. Lance's camp was clearly pretty irrational here. Oh well, we'll still be right in the thick of things and I'll always trust our front office. Like I said, the one good thing about this is we'll find out just how big of a nuisance Lance was last year. If he was the problem that he was hyped up to be, then there are no excuses for players like Hibbert and Hill next season.

Lol, yeah it's not as if he's Lebron signing the two year contract, who will obviously get maxed out every year for the rest of his career if he wants. Lance signing this shorter contract is just a huuuuuuuge risk. What if some unexpected injury happened? Then he would "only" have $18 million guaranteed dollars as opposed to $44 million from the Pacers. The Pacers were not negotiating with reasonableness here.

he laughed at our offer and turned it down to only find out his market was nothing near what he expected it to be. Lance likes to learn things the hard way. What an idiot. Not only is Charlotte a worse team, it's a horrible fit for him. This convinces me that we are better off without his sorry ***

Good luck in Charlotte Lance. I have to admit, I've never been able to figure you out. What was it Churchill said? Lantz is a riddle, wrapped in mystery, inside an enigma.

Lance wasn't even that key 2 years ago, and we made it further the than we did this year. Lance is a distraction, and this just shows again Lance being about Lance. We don't need thus selfish dude. Chemistry will be better without him.
Lance didn't score the ball that well two years ago but he was a big part of that playoff run. The tale will not be told next year but the year after when Hibbert & West's deal expire. The front office needs to make something big out of that cap space & Flexibility because outside of PG there are no other young ascending assets on this team.

Lance and Kemba Walker are going to need 5 basketballs.

I almost think the Hornets will be forced to move Kemba.

Outside of that he doesn't clash with the other starters. Just a really bad backcourt duo.

Only guy MJ would even think about moving would be Henderson.

If he decides he won't bid more than $4 million for Boozer then he's probably not going to even negotiate.

I am fine with this, really. I do hope to see George Hill step up a little next year but I really think we will be fine.

"So to get back at Bird, he shoots his bank account in the foot?"

"He's going to go out there and think only about putting up the biggest numbers he can in order to get a bigger paycheck after two years. Lance is all about the money, and all about himself. It's a shame."

"Lance wants to put up numbers. He's going to be an insufferable ball hog in Charlotte. It's pretty clear where his priorities lie, and it ain't winning."

"It's clear that his ego was bigger than the Pacers thought, so in that respect - see ya."

"Lance is a distraction, and this just shows again Lance being about Lance. We don't need thus selfish dude. Chemistry will be better without him."

"Lance was pretty clearly in the middle of alot of our chemistry problems and dominated the ball way too much, which rubbed numerous players the wrong way."

    -------------------------------------------------------------

I think all this negativity towards Lance is unfair. Suddnely because he chose not to come here, he is a chemistry problem, selfish, stupid, and just trying to stick it to us and our offer? While I think any of that is possible, I don't think it is the only explanation. I'm positive he has a lot of confidence in his skills. Charlotte will probably give him the ball a little more, and he has less talent above him. This should/could give him a chance to make a bigger impact. Plus, they are at least a playoff team now. Also, being confident, I think he does think he can get more in a few years. Maybe he wasn't the lockerroom problem, but whatever was turned him off to us. Maybe he was just ready for a change.

They still have room to bid on Boozer without doing a sign and trade. There's no reason for them to do one.

turned down 9M/yr for 5 years on a conference finalist to take

9M/yr for 2 years with a team option for year 3, on a doormat.

Winning bid on boozer is probably going to be more than he has to offer.

Besides, as owner I'm guessing he wouldn't mind not paying $6 million for his soon-to-be-unhappy backup SG.

So Lance is getting $9m starting salary... have to wonder if we'd have been able to keep him if we had structured our deal as 5 year $45m on a flat $9m per year, versus the escalating 5 year $44m that we did. CJ Miles have better be worth it.

The only one I'd want back would be MKG, and that seems unlikely. Either him or Henderson gets in the way of S. Hill anyway.

To me, G. Hill is the best fit for Stephenson's role, and we now look to move Hibbert to bring in a proper point guard if available.

i agree. the way this deal looks to me is:
it looks like he is all about becoming a max contract all star.
i can't help but think he's really gonna go full throttle and try to be mr. superstar. i suspect a great deal more razzle-dazzle showtime passing.
also expect to see him really dominate the ball. i could see this alienating his future teammates too.
i could be wrong but, i don't see this working out for the best in his case.
but, he can be their problem now.

    No.

The pacers offered him $44 million in guarenteed money. The hornets offered $18. He took the Hornets' offer.

Slice it up how you want, but even at a small increase in years 1 and 2, nba players do not turn down roughly the same money over 5 years vs. 2 if everything else is equal.

I don't know how I feel about this. It's clear Lance didn't want to come back here. He has a chance to be "the guy" in Charlotte. Kind of the Al Harrington situation. I do know that Lance will be terrific on the Hornets, and its gonna suck playing against him
