What a terrible trade by Brooklyn to get all of these guys last summer.
Not only did they have that massive tax bill, they mortgaged their future by giving up those picks. At least they finally got the coach right. Their best move was to get rid of Kidd and get picks back and get Hollins.
As far as the Wiz go, I think PP replacing Ariza could actually be a downgrade, or at least a lateral move.
1. A real veteran Leader. Yes they have Nene and Gortat as veterans already but neither of them boast the credentials of Paul Pierce. He will be good for the development of Wall, Beal and especially Porter. This could be the Wizards "David West" signing.
2. A name. That's right folks, no matter how much we call Pierce a dinosaur, he's still a relevant name in today's NBA. Name recognition is key to team building especially in free agency. Wall and Beal are stars in the making. Having Pierce, a marquee name, shines more light on those two.
The best thing about this deal is that it leaves the Wizards with the flexibility to sign Kevin Durant if/when he decides to opt out of Westbrookville, I meant Oklahoma City.
