He's had a nice career getting paid very generously (much more than most make in a lifetime)
for playing a game, has a beautiful wife and family, and has a long life ahead of him to do
whatever he wants. I would say he is pretty darned lucky.

You have forgotten about a certain owner destroying the chemistry of a team full of sensitive black men

Then again, LA is like a second home to him and we all know he prefers being at home over being on the court working out

Bad luck? It would be horrible to make millions and live in Miami, Florida?

The Heat will still be a playoff team. When you sign with a team that literally has no one on the roster, you're taking a risk. And if we were going to trade him last year, then trading him to Philly was the best thing because they released him and allowed him to sign with any team in the league.

Danny's obvious bad luck is that his body betrayed him at a relatively young age once the team got good. Shame he couldn't have been a part of that 2013 team where everything was clicking chemistry wise and guys left their egos at the door.

You ok this morning? I personally will always like Danny, A fellow Louisiana native who likes comic books, plays video games, played for my favorite ball team, and to me seemed like a cool laid back guy. I will always be a fan of Danny.

If Granger recovers (which I doubt) and Wade re-signs and has a good year...and the Heat sign Ariza or Deng, the Heat could actually be very good. Under no circumstances will they be as good, but they were clearly better than everyone in the East last year and LeBron wasn't their only good player. I think they could be a dangerous team in the playoffs even without LeBron. They just will not dominate like they have been. A lineup of a healthy Bosh, Haslem, Granger, Wade and Chalmers is a good one. If they pick up Ariza or Deng they will be a dangerous team. Recall how good Ariza was against us in the playoffs. Also, Wade and Bosh tore us up.

I'll admit that Danny signing made me fairly sure Lebron would stay in Mia, just because I figured Granger wouldn't have signed unless he was basically assured Lebron would be back. I really do wonder what his thoughts are right now.

Sometimes it's not just about the money....is it really hard to believe that people want to do more with their lives and careers than just "make money"?

Ditto. I know that I wouldn't have signed with Miami, if I thought Lebron was leaving.

Bad luck for Danny but great luck for Miami... neither of those guys are going there if Lebron makes a quick a decision.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

How is everybody gonna feel if Miami is still a title contender and it is Miami and Cleveland in the ECF. Besides wanting to shoot yourself, how hard will it be to root for Danny in Miami.

Won't be hard at all for me. Because I won't be. I'd take Danny over LeBron, but I'd root for Cleveland over Miami easy.

I will always appreciate what Danny did for us, but thinking about the 2008 era Pacers makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

Danny was about the only good thing from that team. He still played really hard on both ends. The way I would describe pre/post 2010 Danny is the same way I'd describe pre/post ACL Al Harrington....a completely different player than before.

I don't know what happened. Maybe those O'Brien teams and losing took his passion out of the game. He also learned some terrible habits from O'Brien (e.g. shot selection) that he was never able to unlearn.

My favorite Dannies were the rookie year Danny, he was a great hustle player, very fun to watch (and the rest of the team was in shambles, so Danny was about the only positive thing). And the Vogel era Danny, when he took on leadership role, bought into the smashmouth idea maybe a little too muh and started getting into opposing players' faces all the time, defending teammates. It was a bit odd at first, but it was cool. It was very easy to like him for that.
