Something I find interesting in all this is that when Lebron left Cleveland for Miami, the teams worked out a sign-and-trade and Cleveland is still getting assets from this. Now that Lebron is leaving Miami for Cleveland it appears Miami will get nothing in return. No talks of a sign-and-trade at all.

I wonder if Riley will even ask about that possibility.

this is a real headline, you can click the link and everything.

Lebron's return to Cleveland is about more than basketball: It's about saving the Midwest

The sign-and-trade was hush money to keep the Cavs and Raptors from claiming tampering.

Miami got two rings and four Title appearances. That's what they got.

Just to complete the circle of 'life', Pat Riley is probably on the phone to Lance. Cap space and shoes to fill.
Absolutely would not shock me to see Lance and Wade together with Lance getting $12 million per year for a four year deal.

Except I already have but clearly you can't read.

My point was that the NBA was at a standstill FA wise with LeBron. You wouldn't see this in other sports. And when we had something similar(Manning) it didn't come across as obnoxious like it did with LeBron.

He didn't host a Decision special so that's something I guess.
Again....they aren't comparable. You're talking about a league where there are probably 10-12 elite QBs. There is one Lebron in basketball. Of course he holds up free agency.

I would argue that Andrew Luck has the potential to be the Lebron James of the NFL. In 5 years, when Peyton, Brees, and Brady have retired, Luck will be the most dominant QB in the NFL

Maybe, but I doubt it. It's just not the way the NFL works.

People are still complaining about him waiting this long? Give me a break. He's deciding where to spend his prime remaining years, deciding between two cities I'm sure are pretty special to him, trying to run a camp, and discussing it with his pregnant wife, not to mention writing an essay expressing feelings and trying to do this decision the right way.

I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but I think you have to be pretty biased to think this was for attention. In reality he only waited like 35 hours after the open of free agency.

Watching Bucks vs Cavs summer league, it sounds like LeBron is not wearing 23 or 6, Reggie (doing the broadcast) was saying he was likely to don 32 but wasn't 100% sure.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

People gave him all sorts of crap for leaving Cleveland and now that he's going back they have to find something else to attack him for.

    Aaron Rodgers disagrees.

ESPN also reaches an international audience, and basketball is popular all over the world. Frankly, very few people outside the U.S. give a **** about the NFL. Lebron is among the most recognizable athletes in the world with Messi and Ronaldo. As much as we love Peyton in Indy he could probably go to say, Germany, and walk around without being bothered.

Yup, it's always going to be something. I think handled this pretty darn well.

You could be right. And if he was the dominant QB in the NFL, he wouldn't have half the impact on an NFL game that LeBron does on an NBA game.

Whoa, slow down partner. Lebron wasn't exactly going to the Finals year after year before going down there either. Lebron probrably would still be ring-less had he stayed in Cleveland.

I don't understand this idea that somehow LeBron's decision was somehow charitable or that he's grown since 2010. So he didn't repeat a PR disaster from 4 years ago. And his PR team produced a great letter. So what. He didn't sign for less to help Cleveland out. He's getting max money. He didn't choose to join a struggling team with no assets. He clearly chose the better long-term situation. I don't hate the guy, I just don't get the fawning. He just chose the destination that made the most sense.

If someone came to my team and was instrumental in winning two titles, I would be pretty grateful.
