Thread: Pacers Offered Lance 44 Million and he turned it Down?

3 years, 5 years ........ hell, something could happen the 1st year that would make it a regretful move. To quote the great Joel Goodsen: "Sometimes, ya gotta say WTF. "

I'd guess when the bigger dominoes start to fall, then we'll see what the market is.
Despite what their beat guy says, Charlotte's the one that worries me. They have no disillusions about getting Melo or Lebron or whoever, they can focus solely on Lance and get it done immediately.

If we have to replace Lance, I would take a look at Marion and move George to SG
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

You think that he will develop that much?
I really do. If the difference between keeping him is 5/44 compared to 5/50 or something like that and we don't budge I think it's a massive mistake that will haunt us the rest of his career.

I don't see why he would refuse this, the best any other team can do is 4/48 which is only 4 more million, which relatively isn't that much in the NBA, also with the Pacers he gets consistency and an extra year.

I'm really surprised that he expects other teams to offer him more. I don't see the Bulls giving more than 9. Maybe the Bobcats do, but this is upsetting. Sure, it must be hard to take 9 a year when Hibbert is making 15.

5 years at 44 million is more than fair. If Lance doesn't want it, so be it. All the team can do is make a very fair offer and show the player they want him on the team. Beyond that it is up to the player. I won't be upset at the pacers at all if Lance walks away

I am not sure about the max part, but he could easily be suspended for some of the ridiculous stuff he does, not really sure... I like him, but if he has more issues they will just keep negating his ability to get higher contract offers from teams, unless he just turns out to be a Cousins like talent I give a really small chance that he gets a max ever.

I'm not sure he would feel low balled if no other team is offering him more. I assume that's the case if it's being reported he can't get any leverage on us. IMO Lance thinks he is worth more than he is or the market thinks he is.

Wonder if teams are blowing in his ear once he leaves disappointed from the contracts they are offering.

Personally, I wouldn't have even offered Lance that much. He hasn't been consistent enough for that kind of money.
Outside of DWest he was the most consistent player on the team last year.
    On the Lance bandwagon

I wanted to do a S&T, I think we will be fine if he is back or not, don't necessarily not want him back, but I am fine if he is not here next year, which I do not think he will be.

I'm sure he'll catch a suspension at some point, but not a Brawl type suspension, a game here and there. Obviously not ideal but not much of a concern for me. Dif'rent strokes dif'rent folks and all but I'm a fan of Lance's antics on the floor.

If numbers get to big, would it even be an option of sign and trade ?

seems crystal clear that Boston is trading Rondo, if so , I would see who they wanted more, Stephenson or G Hill and build a package around that

It does, but don't tell that to everyone who thinks GHill is unmovable because he is making 8 million a year.
Its a pretty bad contract for an underwhelming player. I think its pretty close to unmovable.
    On the Lance bandwagon

Consistent at times detrimental at other times he offers a big distraction. He has his pluses and minuses, we really have to figure out what is the best thing for this team.

Thing about Rondo is he's on an expiring deal and allegedly wants the max on his next contract. His max'll be 100+ mil. If Lance is gone regardless I'd be cool with a Rondo rental, but we'd be in a pickle next year.

Lance is crazy. I don't know what his problem is. But like someone else said, we have no shot at a title without him...At least not next year....

People keep throwing around trade options where the Pacers don't take back salary like they were candy. If the Pacers could afford to take back salary in an S&T matching the initial value of the contract, they could probably afford to match the contract and keep Lance.

It's really not about some quibbling value for Lance, it's about the LT line.

not necessarily...what about Sloan? He consistently played like ****

Think so could put us over the hard cap, but I imagine that we could get below after the S&T offer is done.

Never said anything about what value we would get back, but I would rather get some value than just losing him flat out, taking back salary is the only way most teams would do any S&T for Lance but as long as that keeps us below the LT then that could turnout to be fine.

I waiver on it. I wonder if you replace him with consistency if it makes on and off court stuff go away and they are better for it.
