It could also be the Pacers telling Lance, "Let us know the top contract you get, if it's better than our offer. We'll deal Copeland or Scola, if not, you can come back on our original offer". Pacers may not want to deal Copeland or Scola unless they absolutely have to.
Don't think that is the deal... Bird has his number and he is not going over!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know who's right, not familiar with Bonnell other than knowing he's their beat guy, but Charlotte fans basically think he's a jackwagon and had that opinion before the Lance stuff. I'm jus'sayin.

Yeah, I'd like to believe Bonnell, but CHA still has a ton of cap space and no obvious place to spend it. Unlike Houston, I don't think Charlotte will be content to roll over their cap space until a better opportunity comes.

So I'm not breathing easy yet, but hopefully the Hornets go use up their cap space on other players.

they'd be smart to put in a good sized bid on Boozer when he's amnestied, which would eat up a chunk of that cap space

Charlotte fans have a much, much lower collective opinion of Bonnell than Pacers fans had of Wells.

Bonnell: someone trying to make Lance Stephenson more money is dropping to national writers that Hornets are interested. It's not true.

Either way, I think Bird had an idea of what most teams would go to for Lance when he made that offer. My opinion is Bird has felt that he has the best offer from July 1 and since he knows it he's not stressing too hard.

Teams may have seen the Lance offer and said, welp we were going to offer him 4/32 to 4/36 and decided that wouldn't move the dial. That's my guess.

I think a lot of teams wanted Lance, but I think they wanted him at THEIR price. Lance is not the guy you want to overpay for, Lance is the guy you want to steal at a good price. So Dallas, Chicago, Charlotte, Lakers, Heat whoever, they were hoping they'd get to rob the back on Lance's deal. Unfortunately for them, they got to the vault and Bird was already there packing up the money. Basically Larry knew Lance's market when he made that offer.

Charlotte is the team I'm thinking might get Boozer if he's amnestied. That would spend some of their cash.

Boozer can't play with Al Jefferson. They just (stupidly) signed Marvin Williams to be their starting 4 and they've used back to back lottery picks on PF's. Boozer makes zero sense for the Hornets.

    NYC. So it's probably meaningless.

They're looking at Williams as a 3 too (but mainly a stretch 4 I think). And I don't know that Vonleh is ready to contribute. I think Jordan may see Boozer as an amnesty bargain. And as a trade chip to a contender needing a vet PF. He'll be on a reasonable 1 year salary which should make him a trade asset.
