I think you can get away with a Zusi type on the roster, but certainly not wiht the huge minutes he was getting this year.

Bradley is only 26, he didn't play his best ball, but his work rate was ridiculous this cup. He's traveled the most miles of any player on the pitch so far. We need to get to a point where he doesn't have to worry about falling back so much and can focus more on stuff like the ball he played in to Green for the goal.

I would add better midfield play, aka someone who can keep possession/control of the ball and pass well. Better yet, several someones. Overall athleticism needs to increase. Speed down the wings is better than I thought. I'd like to see some more quality strikers developed as well.

"But, first, let us now praise famous moments, because something happened Tuesday night in Indianapolis that you can watch a lifetime’s worth of professional basketball and never see again. There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."

Bradley is still the best player on this team, but he played out of position during the cup, too high up. He still played well but not the "usual" Bradley so people kept berating his play. But he's still terrific coming out of the back, you just need to pair him with a player who can play up top of him
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Yeah, I thought both him and Dempsey started to play better once Wondo came in. Both of them were playing out of position, and it hurt our offense.

Wondo shouldn't have made it over Terrence Boyd. He proved it there.

It is far from a choke job. I know it is hard for fellow Americans to understand that we are not the best in the world.

If you would have told me going in the group of death that we would lose our best striker and two of our guys would have broken their noses that we would have got out of the group and come a better touch away from winning the first game out of the group I would have laughed.

I am still fine with leaving off Donavon. The guy had a history of no showing the biggest games and I really doubt he would have accepted a reduced role like he should have.

Yedlin alone has me excited for the future. The kid is a star in the making and I think the MLS will lose him to Europe soon.

What are you talking about? Belgium could very well win this tournament if Lukaku performs the rest of the way the way he did in extra time tonight

US Soccer? Back? They were never there to begin with. The 2000s have been the halycon days of United States Soccer.

I think both that the US team just doesn't quite have the technical skills that most of the rest of the world has yet, and that Belgium is quite a good team...if it weren't for Tim Howard they score 3 or 4+ goals. I think they can beat Argentina, at the very least they have a good chance.

Also, did US Soccer ever start? No offense but this is clearly the highest amount of appeal men's soccer has had, I know the Women's game in 99 had a ton of viewers but this is the start.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I don't remember giving the first **** about the World Cup in 2002 when we made our only run to the quarterfinals. I don't remember anything about 2006. 2010 is when US Soccer really took off for me, if only because that Landon Donovon goal vs Algeria was one of those, "I remember exactly where I was and exactly what I was doing and the insane reaction of everyone around me" deals. This year took it to another level, but I think that was becuase 2010 had me paying attention to the USMNT more in the time between World Cups.

Either way, soccer has surpassed baseball for me.

I'm sorry, but there is no way anyone who watches even a modicum of international soccer could have this opinion.

Yeah, I get you could have the opinion that Belgium isn't a strong team 2, 4 or more years ago (they missed all major tournaments since the 2002 WC in Japan-Korea), but they have really come on strong the past 2+ years, bursting with young talents on practically all positions. It's no shame losing to them, really it isn't and I think you guys had on quite long because of Howard and a lack of converting the multiple very good chances the Belgians got (because they really did get a high number of good chances). It wouldn't have been strange if the game had ended 3-0 or 4-1 in regular time.

But, kudo's to Belgium for winning the game and playing really well in it and kudo's for the USA of putting up a good fight and their perseverance. These were my favorite teams after my own national team to watch and follow and who I wanted to do well  and keep it going for the next WC!
