That's all good and dandy, but getting a new PG isn't going to change the pace of play. I'm thinking West and Roy being slow have just something to do with the offense being slow. Just maybe.
I'd agree with you, if we had never seen Lance Stephenson in a Pacer uniform. When he got the rock he ran with it. Hibbert and West be damned, he pushed that ball 90% of his tenure here.

I'm really glad I'm not a Phillie fan I'd have trouble being behind this strategy. I don't know why you couldn't build around Jrue Holiday. Do you continue to stockpile 2nd round picks and hope rookies work out? I can see getting a high pick in a given year, but this seems like there is no end in sight.
I'll never understand how a team that had Iggy, Nick Young, Evan Turner, Jrue Holiday, Lou Williams, and Jodie Meeks couldn't make it work. That's a lot of offensive talent. Moving one or two pieces for an upgrade at a weak position would've done them fine. Instead, they blew up the whole damn team.

Did you notice that Lance ran by himself?

You do that as a change of pace, not setting the pace. Like a change-up in baseball, only reverse.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

I think that's another reason he left. He was tired of 1 man fast-breaks. It was fun to watch though.

I believe he made that swap with current Pacers GM Kevin Pritchard if I'm not mistaken.

No, outside of Iggy and Holiday, that's a ****** team with a bunch of selfish players.

Not if you structure it right. It would take some work to get everyone a proper amount of touches but talent wise it would be worth the risk.

You can have all the scoring and/or shooters in the world on a team, but you cannot win an NBA championship or contend for one if your defense is crap. Iggy was one of the top defenders at that time, but outside of that....

That's why I mentioned they needed to move a few pieces to strengthen some of their weaknesses. Instead they totally dismantled the team! Big Mistake.

I can see using the "tank this season to get a high lottery pick" strategy if your Team is saddled with huge un-moveable contracts.....but the Sixers aren't screwed from a Salary Cap perspective.

They have MCW, Embiid, Nerlens, Bennett in the Starting lineup. At what point do the Sixers start to compete for a Playoff spot?

Sorry, I am not trying to be a d*ck here....but the offensive pace of the Team, the Players on the Team and the low scoring on the Team is all wrong for you.

Why are you not a fan of the Suns, Rockets or wherever D'Antoni ends up coaching again that just scores, scores and scores?

D'Antoni is an offensive genius. Just can't coach defense. I think the Pacers can score and defend, just need better personnel and maybe a NEW coach... maybe.

He traded Jerryd Bayless and Ike Diogu for Brandon Rush, Jarrett Jack, and Josh McRoberts.

So in a 5 player swap, he got the three best players in the trade.
Yep, got me there, BWD, I had forgotten all about that trade

MDA rode the coattails of an in-prime Steve Nash/Amare. There's nothing revolutionary about manufacturing fastbreaks. The Suns averaged a league-best 110pts three times during his tenure in PHX. For a 30 yr span, the NBA average score was 110 or higher in 17 seasons, with the other seasons ranging from 103pts to 118pts. PHX did nothing special, nothing new.

When I become extraordinarily wealthy, I am going to buy two NBA teams, one I care about and one that I let Grimp run. You can all thank me later.

Why buy two teams when you can just introduce Grimp to Jim Dolan?

Lemme think of a couple of examples of teams that ran the fast break as its dominant offensive philosophy:

Paul Westhead employed a "7 seconds or less" philosphy, and averaged 109 ppg. They allowed an average of 130.

The 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers played at a blistering pace, and were in the running for the #1 draft slot even before they traded away half their team for pennies on the dollar.

Mike D'antoni always tries to push the pace up. He's been to the playoffs about half as many years as he's coached, and most of that time he had an in prime HOF Nash, and an in prime Amare Stoudamire.

Where'd you get the time machine? Also, did you bring back a sports almanac from 2103? I got some betting to do.....

Someone wake up Grimp....that's his cue.

I wonder what Bledsoe and his agent want for a contract.

    At a minimum....we are talking about $13 to 15+ mil a year?

I like Bledsoe as a Player....but he's injury prone.....anyone taking him on would be a huge gamble.

Maybe I'd consider a $15 mil a year / 3rd Year Player option if it meant giving up either Hibbert or ( more than likely ) West ( with West maybe going to a 3rd Team )?
