You understand he would be signed on for the 13th man on the roster. I am not sure what type of talent/skillset you believe 1 million bucks and a 13th man on the roster gets you these days.
As a 13th man, I'd rather see youth with possible upside, instead of Rasual. Rasual can go to Clippers, Heat, ect. somewhere where he can help a contender like the Pacers last season. I am not a hater, just don't see the point when we ain't competing for a championship.

I hear you on that and understand your POV, but I do disagree.

Just for discussions sake, throw out a name who would command a similar salary and would be a better fit.

Jeff Teague isn't a "REAL" point guard, he just has an insane quick first step. He isn't that good of a shooter (39% FG and 32% 3PT) and his passes aren't that accurate.
I'll take him over our pg any day

Do the Pacers not have any interest in Evan Turner? With PG and Lance out, it seems like he would be someone worth considering.

Well I would hope not, he's already agreed to sign with Boston anyways.

As Pacers are constructed and available FA's, Chris Singleton SF, Kent Bazemore SG. Both young and athletic which we need very badly.

That's right, guess I should look up some players to see who is actually available.

How about that Adonis Thomas. He went to the Dleague and put up some decent numbers, if my memory is serving me right. I think he is like 21. Might be worth taken a cheap non-guaranteed.

Not my first choice but Barbosa is hoping to prove himself in World Cup play. We may want to take a look considering what's left. Otherwise it might be best to seek a trade at the deadline but I hate giving up an asset for a 1 year rental in a year like this.

I'm okay with Rasual Butler if we are looking for a 3pt shooter......but looking at the list of Free Agents left....if we needed a Combo Guard....I'd see if Ramon Sessions could be had for $1+ mil. If we are looking for a Tweener Forward....I'd look at Dante Cunningham.

But my guess is that Vogel is continuing to go with spreading the floor with 3pt shooters.......so I'm guessing that a Player like Rasual would make more sense.

That seems a little too stressful for Royce.

You certainly got my attention for a minute there, Sparrhawk. I really like his ability to play the kind of BB Vogel likes to run. Don't know if his mental/stress problems would allow him to play, however. Million dollar talent, .$50 head?

Very true. Likes to blame his anxiety to try and get what he wants. Uses it as a crutch too often.

My wife suffers from anxiety and yet it doesn't stop her from doing things she loves. It's an every day thing. Wish Roy was more of a man, cause he has a lot of talent. I would have loved to of seen him play on an NBA court.

Anxiety is the same for everyone?

Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right.” ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

So now that Marion has flopped out, I think we should target Singleton, Crawford, and Beasley. I think we could add all three using our TPE somehow and maybe moving Scola's contract for nothing. We can sign all 3 to 1 year deals like we did Stuckey. MAYBE a 2 year.

    West
    Miles
    Roy
    Crawford
    Hill

    Copeland
    Rudez
    LaVoy
    Beasley
    Stuckey

Since Beasley and Crawford are both scorers, they should add some punch. Singleton can be a good defense guy. I'd also consider starting Stuckey over Hill. Maybe bringing Hill off the bench at the point guard is the best solution at this point.

Ignoring that you'd start Jordan Crawford ( another "streaky Guard that can put up ???? points in a single game a few years back and then play like garbage for the rest of the season" type Players ), you'd have to pick one of the Free Agent Players that you are pining for.

The Pacers can only use the Disabled Player Exception on a single Player.

    http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm

If this exception is granted, the team can acquire one player via free agent signing, trade or wavier claim, to replace the disabled player:

    - The team may sign a free agent for one season only, for 50% of the disabled player's salary or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.

    - The team may trade for a player in the last season of his contract only (including any option years)4, who is making no more than 50% plus $100,000 of the disabled player's salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception plus $100,000, whichever is less.

    - The team may claim a player on waivers who is in the last season of his contract only (including any option years), who is making no more than 50% of the disabled player's salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.

That's why I suggested trading Scola to clear a spot and salary space. Crawford and Beasley would be good additions. Pure scorers, something we lack right now. I think if we go "Skittles" this season (players of assorted flavors and varieties).. we might have a shot at 8th seed. But it's gonna require scorers to go along with defense.
