I think that the Pacers have options beyond the "sign a Player to the Vet Minimum" option....but they are choosing to go with this route ( which I see as "Gerald Green Part 2" ).
Such as who? Shawn Marion? He probably wants to go to a contender, and what good would he do other than getting us a worse draft pick? He would be a one year rental who honestly would take minutes from Solomon Hill which could hurt us a bit long term.

Despite Stuckey being a ball dominant guard....he's IMHO more proven. I've never been a fan of Brooks.
me either, but the guy's clearly got talent. he's cheap and his one skill (put your head down and score) is pretty much what we need now. I'm not going to become of a fan of the guy or anything, he plays bad basketball, but this season's basically a thought experiment now.

so I can get behind signing a talented young-ish guy and seeing if we can "fix" him, if for no other reason than it makes watching interesting to me. hell I'm even sort of interested in seeing what we do with Stuckey now.

how the hell could anyone get pissed about MarShon Brooks? people were trying to justify RODNEY STUCKEY when we were trying to win a title, now it's a lost season and they're mad about MarShon Brooks? c'mon people.
One has shown the ability to contribute consistently, Brooks hasn't quite done the same. if he had been a consistent doublw figure like scorer It'd be worth the risk. Idc about his attitude, he just hasn't shown me that he can demonstrate his scoring ability on a consistent basis.

That is why to me. A near championship level team, I can deal with taking a shot on a guy who's had marginal success. Now? I have no desire to see ANOTHER even more marginal player, one who seems like an inefficient chucker thus far to me.

I don't think we're looking to bring Marshon here to start or anything, at least not right off the bat. I don't see all the fuss about giving a young guy a shot. If he doesn't workout we could just sit him on the end of the bench. There's not much left on the market at this point.

He was not near an all-star, he was a player put in a system set up for him to succeed, and he shot well. The Pacers demand a lot more on the defensive end and he was pretty much a shooter, and was terrible at both while with Indy. We shall see if Gerald continues his good play this season or if the numbers dip closer to where he was with the Pacers.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I would take MarShon Brooks, he has potential, maybe he can realize it here.
His draft year, IND brought him in more than once for a look Then did the George Hill acquisition instead.

Don't know what that was about, maybe they thought Brooks would be around in the second round. He has some scoring ability, but has been benched on his last 2 teams. If he doesn't fit in then drop him.

I don't think that we should tank....so I have no problem going after Marion or anyone that would improve the roster. I also don't think that getting a Tweener Forward like Marion would impact Solo's development. Solo will still get more than enough minutes.

You want to know what else that we need? Ball Movement and a more Team approach to the game...not a "put your head down and score" type of guy that would just lower the basketball IQ and poor shot selection of this Team.

Besides, we already have a "put your head down and score" type Player on the roster....Stuckey.

Build the offense and defense around the 3 remaining best Players on the Team....GH/West/Hibbert. That means getting complementary Players. If we don't get anyone....which means keeping Scola , then I am all for going with what we have and putting Copeland in the lineup at the Backup SF spot ( start Solo ) and play him next to Scola.

The Pacers, and the 3 other former ABA teams, settled a lawsuit filed by retired ABA players. Apparently the Spurs were tasked with handling their retirement plans when the ABA dissolved and didn't seem to care much about it.

Marshon Brooks' career has fallen off since a promising rookie season, but we're going to need more scoring punch and he does exactly that. Worth a flyer around the minimum in my opinion.

Yeah, the fact that Marshon Brooks has moved around this much is somewhat concerning when contemplating bringing him in. I would pass for now.

I'd bring Marshon Brooks in for the minimum. This coming season we aren't going to be contending for a title, so lets bring in some scorers and at least try to make things exciting by putting some points on the board. I'll support whoever they sign, and I'll go to as many games as I can (and probably cheaply too).
