He wouldn't have added us any more games than we had a year ago, but his subtraction combined with the collapse only could have hurt.
Nah, if Paul was healthy I bet you our national game count would have been extremely similar to last year.

Mahinmi really isn't that bad. As far as backup centers go, you could do far worse.
Mahimi isn't bad at all. Especially as a backup. He is pretty athletic for his size too. The one thing I really like about him is he will challenge every shot. If garbage a$$ Kendrick Perkins can start so can Mahimi.

DeMarcus Cousins injured his knee in practice...hope it isn't serious, really rough stretch for Team USA..
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Geeze, you have to think the days of top flight NBA players doing events like this is limited. With money being thrown around like it is there is just too much to lose.

The players win in this deal more often than they lose. A lot of NBA players have made a lot of money in overseas markets by playing on team USA, aside from the benefits of actually improving themselves.

People who think NBA players are wrapping themselves in bubble wrap over this are naive. More NBA players are playing in pro-am leagues for zero benefit at all. No player steps on the floor thinking they're going to get injured.

We shall see. I would expect players going to these events will be a big topic in the next CBA negotiations.

This is between the NBA and FIBA, not the owners and the players.

Owners demanding the rights to strip players from playing competitive basketball during the summer is not going to happen. It just isn't. It'd be terrible PR for the owners for even suggesting it, at a time where PR is highly important.

Stripping players of the right, no, but making them be held accountable for their action if injured in some form of finanical penlty, yes. Injured players need to have to share the financial burden for their decision. Basically, financially they are in a win win situation if injured with a guaranteed contract. IMO, all three( the players, NBA, and the FIBA) should be the ones shouldering the finanacial loss of the owner. JMOAA

I don't agree with this. According to this, Paul should be punished for choosing to represent his country? It's not like he's doing this service purely for himself.

This makes no sense at all. You think Paul George should be punished for choosing to represent his country because it isn't on his owner's dime? That's a slave mentality. What if he was injured while working out or practicing? Or driving himself to practice? Exactly what should he have the permission to do without assuming some massive risk should a freak accident occur?

The players have insurance. George and his employer have minimal financial risk. It's selfish and borderline inhuman to punish him for getting hurt while performing normal activities.

You think George really feels like he's in a "win-win" situation right now?

I think in the next CBA they need to sign a waiver that if they get injured they only get hal of their salary the time they are out and the other half goes towards cap replenishment. Or half of their contract is taken off the cap. This should only be used if they are participating in FIBA though.

Do you know how tacky it would look if the Pacers were only giving PG half his money because he got hurt playing for his country?

There should be an extra insurance policy and better cap relief for those who invest in and depend upon the health of these players (Their teams).

I think it's kind of silly that there is even a world cup for basketball. USA is gonna take it every time.

Slaves and property, really! What I said was if a player CHOSE to play they have an accountability for their action. Obviously, you disagree which is your perogative.

Nothing wrong with that! Many Vette owners store their pride n joys during the winter, so they won't get damaged. I always did. No reason to put it in a icy snowy situation to be damaged in an accident when it wasn't necessary for it to be there. If I had another gorgeous 57 Chevy, I'd do the same as well. They are investments. All businesses have investments they like to protect and owning a NBA team isn't any different.
