Andrew Wiggins could go either way though, that's the thing. I can see why they made the trade, but Wiggins could end up being a massive flop.
Minnesota had very little leverage, and was able to flip that into one of the 10 best prospects over the past 5 years, another guy who should at least be a rotation player for them, and a first round pick. That's not bad at all.

Yeah, I'm sure Jaguars and Browns fans really feel like they're part of the NFL right now...

But yeah, the Colts are now a very relevant franchise (which they weren't prior to 1998), so of course the NFL system is great!

The NFL's system works because the NFL and the NBA are two completely different sports with roster numbers that don't even begin to approach one another. There are almost 1500 players in the NFL at any given time whereas in the NBA there are closer to 300.

The next man up after Magic is Shaq, and Shaq isn't even close.
Actually, according TheRichest.com (granted I'm not sure how accurate it is), Junior Bridgeman is wealthier than Shaq. Dude has done damn well for himself franchising Wendys. I'm honestly surprised that the Bucks new ownership didn't approach him to be a part of that group. He'd be a good face of the ownership to reassure Bucks fans worried about a move if they can't get a new arena.

You might think it's funny, but 90% of all NBA teams would swap profits with either the Browns or the Jags in a heartbeat.

If you do something of relevance, the NFL gives you a shot on the big stage. I think that 20 different NFL franchises got a Sunday Night Football game last year. Only the scum of the league get left out. If you do something of relevance, the NFL will reward you. This is a sharp contrast to the NBA, who acts as if about 5 or 6 teams exist every season.

Going into 2012, the Colts were a franchise in transition and had yet to prove anything, so they didn't get any national TV games. But after the surprising 11-5 2012 season, the NFL rewarded them with two SNF games in 2013. Very fair. This is a sharp contrast to the NBA, who in 2013-14 gave the Spurs (defending runner up and eventual champ) and Pacers (ECF team) just one ABC game a piece while shoving the Lakers (should have been obvious they'd suck with Kobe's injury trouble) and Knicks (creamed by Pacers in previous playoffs) down everyone's throats with an obscene amount of exposure (5 ABC games a piece).

The NFL certainly has some biases (Manning, Brady, and NFC East), but they are superior at showcasing their product on a more balanced level.

Helps that the NFL plays 20% of its overall schedule on national TV. But that's not at all relevant.

    Colts=premiere NFL franchise=NFL is fair.
Pacers=middling NBA franchise=NBA is not fair.

This excuses that the Lakers and Knicks (neither made playoffs) had 10 combined ABC games last year while the Spurs and Pacers had 2 combined?

How about the defending Western Conference champion Spurs and their one ABC game last year? Or is me fussing about that somehow tied to my Colts/Pacer biases?

Because ABC only gets %1 of the league schedule to choose from. if NBC could only pick 1% of NFL games, they would all be Dallas, New England and whatever team Peyton Manning played for.

I don't see how you can possibly begin to compare nationally televised games between the NBA and the NFL. I just don't see how you can expect one league or the other to begin to imitate each other. They are totally different animals. One has 1.5k players the other has 300. One plays 512 regular season games a year the other plays 2,460.

1% of the schedule. When your budget is that tight no executive on earth would even bother looking at anything but projected TV ratings. Grab your three biggest markets (Chicago/LA/NY) and your two biggest stars (LeBron/Durant) and play it safe.

So yes, it is tied directly with your personal bias because you seem to think ABC's absurdly limited regular season NBA schedule (which they have no interest in outside of christmas) is somehow parallel to the NFL which plays so many showcase games that it doesn't matter if everyone gets a turn.

if one out of every 5 NBA games was on ABC/ESPN/TNT, All 30 NBA teams would get multiple appearances.

So the NBA can't schedule national TV games for other teams, because purple grapes and apples?

No one is arguing that the NBA needs to be ran just like the NFL. What IS being said, is that the NBA can expand their focus outside of a few select teams, like the NFL.

We can expand it to all national channels, and the point stays the same.

The Knicks got more national TV games than both the Pacers and Grizzlies combined last year, and they were two out of the four CF teams from 2012.

I'd also point out the Pacers got sent to Asia last year which is a HUGE opportunity to try and grow the franchise's brand internationally.

So if the NBA decides to spread the wealth (National TV games) a little more, they wouldn't be a business anymore? Obviously the answer is yes, so I'm not sure why pointing out that the NBA is a business, is a good reasoning for putting a select few teams on a pedestal and serving scraps to everyone else.
