Default Injury Report: When do we expect Bynum? Watson?

It's probably been discussed somewhere, but I haven't seen it.

When are we thinking we'll get these guys back?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Watson in about a week, and Bynum hopefully by playoff time, just my guesses

I would be completely fine with just using Bynum in the away games versus the Heat in the playoffs (assuming that series happens of course). I would think Watson should be ready to go soon, hopefully within a week at least. We could use his shooting in the second unit.

would love to see Bynum and Watson by the 11th to play in Miami would love to win that one and win the season series of course I would also be willing to not risk ANYONE for that game if home court is assured

I thought CJ would be back for San Antonio on Monday. But it seems not? Bynum all has been quiet since last week. So um, yeah I think until a tweet shows up from some respectable source no one knows. I think until CJ gets back, we need a 10 man roto off the bench. Switch out Ian for LaVoy, and Add Copeland into the mix. We need offense off our bench vs. Washington, Cleveland, and San Antonio. Particularly the former two since they score a lot of points. And our defense while spectacular, won't be energized without offense.

I hope we get CJ back ASAP because he always brings the potential to add a lot of scoring to our second unit. I don't even care if/when Bynum plays in the regular season as long as he can potentially play against the Heat in a playoff series. I was just thinking during the game about how huge of an impact he would have had offensively. He's a guy I feel comfortable plugging in for reserve minutes without needing time to adjust to playing.

Well when you word it like that it makes it seem like Watson is bad, Watson is very good for a back-up PG in my opinion

Sloan hasn't been THAT bad. He's just out of his element playing in big games for a contender.

I think Watson is a decent backup PG, better on defense than offense. With that said he had been slumping majorly (like virtually everyone else) before his injury.

Btw I was looking for Bynum on the end of the bench last night to see his demeanor... but I did not see him anywhere... Anyone that was close, can you tell me your opinion on his demeanor? ? Thanks in advance...

Watson must have had a slight tear or something cause it sounds worse than they sold it lol I've had hamstring issues my whole life and they're nothing to be messed with. I'd be surprised if Watson came back within a week from today. Hope he's back really soon, but not too soon to where he re-aggravates it :P

Well he first strained it two weeks ago today. So next Friday, will be 3 weeks. I think though if we are to survive these next few games, without him. We need to bring more O off our bench. Give LaVoy and Cope a chance. With Solo, Scola, and Turner.

I totally agree. I love that Watson has that ability to get hot offensively and nail a few three pointers. I'm missing having that outside shooting threat the most.

Yeah, CJ could get hot, no question, but be realistic. We are saying we really the three point shot of a guy who has shot under 34% for the year? I miss CJ's defense and ball pressure, but the guy is a very mediocre shooter for a guard.

CJ is a guy who can stretch the floor. Whether or not he's shooting good right now is less important than his reputation. He has several good years around 40% from behind the arc.

On NBATV, Candace said that Bynum hasn't practice recently and is out indefinitely. She sounded skeptical that he would return at all, based on her tone.

Yeah, Gerald Green has had a few good years in the past too. That really doesn't do anything for us now, does it?

he did? pretty sure he had less than half a good season in NJ before he got here... hence why he was out of the NBA for a bit

Still, 34% from 3 isn't terrible, and other teams defenses respect him out there, so he helps spread the floor regardless

That's why they should play Cope.

    Just a guess but

CJ will be back by end of first week in April

Bynum probably wont ever play another game in a Pacer uniform , in fact wouldnt be surprised if he retires

    Just a guess though
Sittin on top of the world!

We don't need Bynum. We do need CJ. I don't want Sloan backing up Hill all playoffs. I like Sloan, but CJ can be a huge asset for us in the playoffs

recently they were discussing the Bynum injury on sunday nite sportslocker and the DR described Bynums knee ailment as bone on bone. specifically whenever he runs, jumps, stops quickly etc the top and bottom of his knee is bone on bone grinding which then creates the massive swelling.

I am not a physician but my take from it was Bynums days are numbered. At best, we may see him 1-2 games during the postseason when necessary.
