Good defense, abominable offense. Thank goodness we're in the East. Evidently, the uninspired first halves have not yet been resolved. We look like little kids whenever things don't go our way. That's not going to get us anywhere come playoff time.
I actually thought we played much better in the first half than the second. They converted their fast break opportunites and we didn't. I think that was the difference in the first half.

You could say the same thing about the Heat; we are, after all, the ones sitting in 1st.

Hibbert played like a vag and PG was his typical putrid self on offense. Tough to win when your all stars are such bums. Conley lit Hill up. Stephenson was his usual consistently solid self.

FWIW I am a pretty strong Hibbert defender. That said, you got worked tonight big fella. You certainly were not the only one, but you definitely got worked.
Yeah, no doubt about it. Hibbert had a very bad game tonight. West was not better either. In general, our bigs were outplayed and the same applied for PG and GH. Only Lance can claim that he had a good game tonight.

I'm not just talking about this game, which I agree was officiated horribly. Over the last month or so all he does is settle for jump shots, while earlier in the year he attacked the rim much more often. Remember when he was averaging like 28 points per game in the first two weeks or so in the season and he was included in MVP talks? That was when he was driving to the rim.
PG still drives some. The problem is that it usually ends in a clank off the rim and whinning to the refs.

I said this in the game thread, but I knew the Pacers were going to lose when Hibbert missed the wide open can't believe he missed that hook. That summed up the night for me.
along with him falling down on his own one of many plays that summed up the nite. hibbert straight got abused by Zbo on that one offensive board. bosh and hibbs should both consider investing in charmin cause they know soft better than many.

Paul George has forgotten that you can score points by driving to the rim.
Except Paul George is a very poor finisher around the rim. George has got to learn to become a mid-range player, and no fade-aways to the should not be a part of this mid-range game.

It looks like from his shot chart that seven of PG's 10 shots tonight were at the rim. I would at least partially agree with the general point, but tonight was not a good example.

I was impressed to see the Pacers continue to run their offense even after they got behind and a little frustrated. I'm still concerned that so much of their good offense results in midrange shots (although they are open), but the ball continued to move tonight.

Thankfully only one more back to back for the season and no more road games on the back end!

On another note, we need to pony up and pay Lance this summer. If that means trading someone, I don't care. I never thought I would say that, but he just means too much.

Does it concern anyone that whenever we seem to play tough frontcourts lately we get killed? I am particularly thinking about Charlotte and now Memphis.

    Bulls?

i am not upset about this game. Effort was good, knew this would be a really tough game for us. Grizzlies defense was very impressive. I'll say the best team defense we have played all season. It was textbook, help recover, help the helper. It was a clinic

I agree with most sentiments that it was just "one of those games", but it does bother me how disinterested the Pacers looked in just about every 50/50 ball. I saw 4 or 5 opportunities someone could have dove, jumped or otherwise made an extra effort to get the loose ball...and they were content to see it go to Memphis.

It concerns me that I've seen this in a few games now. This team is at its best when it's scrapping, fighting, diving to the floor for the ball. Remember when Hibbert would do that to start the season?

I am here in Memphis and didn't see how Roy/West faired against Noah. If they did well then kudos. Just seems like tough front courts these days kill us.

Tough one to watch. I didn't enjoy a second of this game.

The Miami-Indy conference finals that everyone was so excited about 2 months ago looks like it might be the next Dan & Dave.

Don't scream. But is it possible Roy is not a good rebounder, but he makes the Pacers a good rebounding team? And if it is possible, isn't that more important

You'd think the Pacers would focus a bit more on rebounding on these back to back games, when we lose its always predicated on turnovers and rebounds. Each team got about 74 shots up. Grizz got 10 more defensive rebounds, and +2 on the offensive rebounds. They shot well on those extra possessions.

Maybe our 7-2 center could contribute anything in that department.

Pacers are the second best defensive rebounding team. Second best at plus 4.5 rebounds per game and second best overall rebounding %.

this pacers team might have some weaknesses, but rebounding is not one of them

Good shot distribution again tonight which is encouraging.
If ever there was a game we could have used Bynum it was tonight. Hibbert and Bynum going against Gasol and Koufos would be one heck of a match up. It's hard to compare the match up tonight with Gasol getting to play twice the minutes as Roy. Who knows if we even get Bynum back though. We just have to get it together with the team we have and that should be enough if they can play like they did Friday.

this pacers team might have some weaknesses, but rebounding is not one of them

However, it seems to me that rebounding has gotten worse as the team has become more outside-in offensively coupled with its shooting percentage declining.
