I just happened across this on YouTube, it's a Sports Science episode from years ago that tackles this very topic, and guess what? It actually *does* work --- he got 30 yards more per drive using this "run-up" technique:
I just found this to be interesting and funny all at the same time. Who'da thunk that a wacky movie script would actually prove to be true. I've actually always privately marveled at Adam Sandler's form for that swing, it looks *really* good, lol.. I wonder how much he practiced it.
Also, I guess there is technically no rules *against* using this swing in the PGA.
