Default Orlando Johnson Not Re-Signed By Kings

Orlando Johnson was not signed by the Sacramento Kings after the expiration of his second 10-day contract.

The Kings had to decide whether to sign Johnson for the remainder of the season.

Johnson averaged 1.3 points in seven appearances for the Kings.

Looks like another team felt that the juice was past it's expiration date and needed to be poured down the sink.

Because I appreciated his contribution to the team. I believe that he has a future.

I liked OJ but I don't think he would ever be a difference maker. I appreciated his attitude and work ethic but he was replaceable. With that said, I wouldn't mind if they brought him back this summer.

Seemed like a good guy, but he doesn't have a single NBA-level skill. Might have a future as a 15th-man chemistry guy.

I hope so, for his sake.

I'd disagree with that. He has a very strong upper body and that helps him a lot when driving to the basket and absorbing contact. He also seemed like a good rebounder although that could be systemic (in general, our wings rebound more than other teams' guards due to our defensive philosophy).

I don't think that he's ever going to develop into a difference maker either but he could develop into a reliable bench wing.

I wouldn't mind bringing him back. He was a good chemistry guy and played pretty solid when given minutes. I don't think he'll ever do anything outstanding, but I do remember him having a 15 point game last year and I also remember him blocking KG.

    Touché, my friend.

Honestly, I don't believe that any player in the NBA can be called a bad basketball player. There is a reason that those guys are in the NBA while other players are in the D-League or Europe.

I'm pretty sure that some bigs that only exist in the NBA due to their height could technically be called "bad" basketball players but guards have to be good or else they wouldn't be in an NBA team. There is a huge talent pool to choose from when it comes to guards and only the best of the best make it in the NBA.

You know what I mean, relative to other NBA players.

FWIW I think OJ has a future too. That said he obviously didn't perform well in Sacramento, thus his departure. Who knows if he will ever get another shot in the league, but with everything he has overcome I am rooting for him.

In that case, yes. But I believe that even those players (that are not as good as most NBA players are) still have their uses.

I played basketball competitively before I shattered my right knee and that's why I have a hard time calling anyone "bad". It's just something that I have not been used to. I feel that I should always respect my opponent and that's why I still have this stance even though I have retired from actively playing the game.

OJ has a flawed shot, simple as that. I don't think a shot doc can fix it. Not much call in the NBA for a SG that can't shoot, unless you're a lock down defender, he wasn't that either.

OJ has a great story and over came alot to make here, I admire him for that. Maybe he can play over sea's. I wish him well no matter what he does.

He was a good shooter in college (3 of his 4 seasons were over 39%) and he shot well in his rookie season as well (38.3%). He has shot horribly this season but I think that he can find his shot again.

This is a bummer. Get his shot back this summer and I am sure he will find a job somewhere.

For whatever reason at the next level some players can make it and other just can't. There's a list of guys that have had higher talent that didn't make it, while there are guys that no one thought were good enough ended up making. Weird how it works... but it is true.

OJ is definitely one of the guys talented enough to be a solid contributor, whether it was a strong backup or even a middling starter. But for some unknown reason he just couldn't shoot at the next level. That was his main asset. A great shooter. Only he get to the next level and even tho the baskets are the same height he just can't shoot worth a ****.

I wish him the best, I hope he can make it else where, but it doesn't look like it will happen.

    Read it and weep:

When George Hill is above 15% usage we won 73.5% of games. Below 15% usage we won 61.9%
