Tennessee's going from play in game to Sweet 16.

And Iowa State better have a ton of cash cuz Hoiberg's getting a huge offer from a blue blood or the NBA soon.
I don't think he would leave Iowa State for any other college gig. The NBA is more likely. That dude is a fantastic coach though.

I totally expected this. Duke just wasn't very good this year.

I mean, the kid waited to call TO based on what he saw on the clock right? It's not his fault the clock operators screwed up. That's rough man.

I did too. Usually small schools like Mercer have good, veteran guards, but can't compete in terms of bigs. Tennessee's main strength is their post game and physicality. That is a really bad matchup for a good, typical mid-major.

I mean, Tennessee isn't either. I thought they would at least make a game of it. In other news, the SEC hasn't lost yet in the NCAA tournament.

Glad to see Iowa St. pull it out. Now if Kentucky and Lousiville could both lose in Indy next weekend it would be great.

I respect Cal for the way he's able to own the recruiting game and everything, but man, the guy's smarminess is insufferable. Him and Pitino are perfect for the Kentucky schools.
Yeah, they're perfect because they win at schools that expect to win.

Pitino really needs this win against Calipari. Cal has generally had his number at UK. He's 5-1 against him, which includes the Final Four victory a couple of years ago. UK certainly should have won that game two years ago because of their talent, but Pitino needs to pay him back this year. It would be pretty haunting to Pitino if he lost this game.

What a match-up. The last two champions who absolutely despise each other will be playing a chip shot away from their home turf. I'm definitely going to go downtown on Friday night to take in all of the intensity. Indy just seems like it's a magnet for dramatic sporting events. Anytime we have a big event, it always seems like we get a lot of drama with it: Butler making it to the Final Four, Pats-Giants, UL-Duke last year, UK-UL this year, I could go on and on.

To add insult to injury to the fact that Indiana's schools were a massive flop this year, we have the two big Kentucky schools playing in Lucas Oil. Plus you have Michigan (Big 10) and Tennessee, two close schools.

What a choke job from Wichita St. Undefeated, all the hype of a perfect season, and they lose in the round of 32.

It wasn't a choke job. Coach Cal had his young Wildcats ready.

Not taking anything away from UK. They are very talented, and were ready to play. Whenever an undefeated team loses in the round of 32, it can only be considered a choke. Don't get thrown off by the names on the jerseys. If Michigan St., Duke, Syracuse, etc went undefeated and lost early in the tournament, everybody would be calling it a choke as well

They were undefeated in large part because they played a bunch of joke teams. A team like MSU would never go undefeated in the first place since they play much better opponents. The undefeated thing didn't really mean too much once they got to the big dance.

Kentucky played so far above the level that they have played at for most of this year, it's crazy. WSU didn't choke. KY just found one day, one game, where they somehow played up to their potential.

Sad, because I consider them to be pure concentrated evil, the face of everything that could possibly be wrong with college athletics.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!).
I'm (maybe) back after being repetedly banned, merely for supporting a different NFL team than do certain forum moderators.

Good points can be made for both sides of the argument. No right or wrong side. I call it a choke just because WST was a final 4 team last year, undefeated, and a number one seed. I know that WST had a cupcake schedule, but not losing all year is still quite the accomplishment. WST had established themselves as one of the best, if not the best team going into the tournament. When a top team goes down early in the tournament to a 10 loss team, I believe it is a choke

I went to practice today John Belien was the only coach who took their hour session serious. I thoroughly enjoyed watching their practice. The best coaches focus on the simple fundamentals and Belien had a great fundamentally based practice plan. I was bummed had to leave for class before Louisville took the floor. I bet his would have been similar to Belien. Cal and Cuzio were really casual they just let their players shoot most of the time. Cal spent more time talking to people he knew around the areana then coaching(he was probably just recruiting lol)

Mitch McGary looks pretty good for not playing all year. He didn't participate in the contact drills, but he looks good.

Come on UCLA make me look smart for picking you too get to the final 4. I think they have the perfect formula to beat Florida. Don't turn the ball over. Too bad Florida is playing so good offensively.
