Thread: Summer Dreams - Tonight on CBS 8 PM

Default Summer Dreams - Tonight on CBS 8 PM

There's a documentary on CBS tonight about trying to make it in the NBA summer league.

"The players, personalities and behind-the-scenes drama at the NBA Summer League."

Looks like they follow two drafted players, two undrafted players, a ref and a coach.

So if you're not in the mood to watch Andrew Bynum dominate, this might be a good alternative.

There's a review of sorts here:

The special will feature 76ers rookie Michael Carter-Williams, along with Mavericks rookie Shane Larkin.

"The NBA Summer League is an incredibly colorful event in which team owners, general managers, coaches, lottery picks and longshots all convene in Las Vegas to pursue their hoop dreams," executive producer Mike Tollin (Coach Carter, Smallville) said in a statement. "With unprecedented access, we'll witness hopes dashed and dreams coming true right in front of our eyes."

The series will look at players struggling to make the league as well. Summer League sets a unique backdrop to the league, telling the story of young players trying to impress coaches and GMs and players desperate to make a roster. All of it goes on in Vegas while superstars often vist for leisure or in advance of Team USA practices. It's a haven for hardcore basketball fans and the stories in play are compelling at every turn.

Carter-William provides a great look at a player who was expected to struggle and instead has driven himself to contending for Rookie of the Year honors.

While I was setting my DVR for championship week I noticed this. I set it to record not sure what is was about. Thanks for posting really looking forward to taping it now.

I am recording CBS on my capture card all day that way I won't miss it. It probably won't start until closer to 9. Still 10 minutes left in the MW championship.

MCW Mom is that crazy sports parent. She wants it more than he does lol. Not a healthy relationship I would fire her.

The Neil Olshey interview with that coach is the best part of the documentary. Really must watch stuff.

The Shane Larkin talking with his GF Rick Carlisle scene is pure gold.

I have a feeling it was her decision to be his manager, not his.

Not a bad show. It was good to have something to distract me while the Pacers were digging their hole.

I ripped it to DVD I can put it on youtube, but they will probably take it down. These type of documentaries tend to show up on youtube after a few weeks.

It was a good documentary, I would recommend it.

This is pretty good. I bet the creators are kicking themselves for not getting Rasual in this, that would have been a cool perspective to see - the 34 year old vet trying to get back into the league

It's "On Demand" from Comcast. Go to On Demand, TV Shows, etc.

And this is relevant to the show:

As expected, the Mavericks recalled Shane Larkin from the NBA Development League’s Texas Legends in time to travel with the team to Oklahoma City.

Also, Dallas reassigned Gal Mekel to the Legends.
