Lavoy looked very good tonight. I'm reserving judgment until I see a few more outings like that. If he can play like that on a regular basis, he could develop into a starting PF.

You are right. Selectively picking statistics shows that Roy played awful. If that is how you evaluate Roy's performance you are correct.

Seeing that Roy's primary job is to protect the rim and Philadelpha was not getting shots at the rim I tend to think Roy did his job. Obviously he wasn't perfect, but overall did his job.

I guess I don't understand why people insist on judging Roy based on points and rebounds. To me that is the equivalent of looking at George Hill's blocked shots to determine how well he played.
I agree with the fact that Hibbert's main priority is to protect the rim.

That said, its a downright crime that he cannot score over anyone anymore. The dude is one of the tallest players in the NBA and he used to have a pretty effective post game. He has officially become a liability on offense and considering offense seems to be our biggest issue, he has been playing poorly. Is he protecting the rim? Yes. He should be able to protect the rim and play offense though, he has done both well in the past. Again, at this point he is a liability on offense.

The Pacers kind of play like an Allen Iverson team where several players try to score by themselves...frequently. It's like the opposite of San Antonio and the 1990's Pacer teams where ball movement was king. Now it sticks in the guys hand as he goes one-on-one. One of Lance's drives was amazing...but it's hollow. That type of play isn't how you win championships.

OK, I think your problem is my use of the word "awful". You're right, that was misused. However, you can't argue that we are not getting much on the offensive end from an NBA all star. This is making us almost exclusively a perimeter team.

And what is most frustrating is we have seen these guys share the ball and how good the offense can be.

BOOM! Exactly right!! That kind of play will not work in a playoff game vs a top opponent. Why rely on it against a team that would have trouble in a European League?

He needs to be assertive, no doubt about it. That said he rarely gets touches anymore and doesn't crash the offensive glass because he is heading back to the defensive end. Like others have mentioned PG and Lance sometimes dribble the air out of the ball and after the first 5 minutes don't even look to get Roy touches. Yes, part of this is on Roy, but you have to feed the big dog and let him eat every once in a while.

The way they played the first 40 games was not pretty and it was probably more work on the offensive end but it was the reason they were the best team in the league. I think some of our younger, immature guys are trying to skip steps now and it's biting them in the butt. It's causing the turnovers and poor decisions. It's also hurting Roy.

I don't understand how people could watch us play and think it looked nothing like us. I thought this was the best looking game they've played in a while, but they were simply careless with the ball.

I think you have to give credit to Philadelpha though, because they were pressuring us all night. They caused unforced errors and gambled successfully in the passing lanes.

    Faried banks in a free-throw.
He looked so relaxed after that though. After he did that, I had no doubt he was making the second one.

Lack of team play after the first quarter. That's on the players, but its also on the coach. If a player isn't running the offense, then you yank their *** out of the game. Thanks for the smart *** comment though.
David West signed here instead of Boston. If PG, Lance and Roy don't man up, they're wasting his chance like they did Danny's

if you wanna be optimistic, you can say we are saving "the good stuff" (effort, offensive plays...) for the playoffs. If we can back into HCA in the east, so be it.

David West showed tonight why he's my favorite Pacer. He made a ton of winning plays down the stretch when we needed them (also had that bad pass to Roy though).

Sign me up on the Lavoy Allen bandwagon. It's just one game, but you can see a lot of things about a player's IQ/understanding of the game without needing to watch them a bunch. He's a smart player and an offensive facilitator. He doesn't get in the best position on defense, but he plays much, much bigger than he is. He had a couple of really nice possessions against Thaddeus Young in the post that prevented scores and had a couple of blocks. But on offense he was always in the right place making the right play. He played really well with both Scola and West, and I'd be curious to see him next to Bynum. I hope he gets more playing time.

My hope is that the playoffs are another animal and things will improve however the turnovers will be there undoing
unless they get better focus and wiser in execution.
