Read the full article at:INDIANAPOLIS – Scheduled for induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on June 14, Indiana Fever Head Coach Lin Dunn has announced that the 2014 WNBA season will be her final year in coaching. She will remain with the franchise in 2015 as a senior basketball advisor.
No way this really sucks, she was so excited about being back, and felt she would be a lot better now coming back from injury, hope her the best...
Question can we keep both her and Natalia for the season, not sure how the roster situation works in the WNBA.
Why so SERIOUS
Fever played their first preseason game today. Lost. But we sat the vets, only played 3 players from last years team. Natasha Howard started at center and got 14 points and 4 rebounds against Stephanie Dolson. I didn't see the game, just read the box.
And Stephanie White will be the new coach in 2015.
Read the full article at:The new head coach for 2015 was sitting right next to Dunn during the Fever's preseason-opening loss to Washington (80-63). Stephanie White, one of the franchise's original players in 2000 and a former star at the high school and college levels in Indiana, will ascend from her current role as associate head coach.
With the numbers that she has put up so far in the preseason, I doubt Haiden Palmer makes the team... didn't care for that move much anyways, but doubt many 3rd round picks make teams now days anyways with the way the roster sizes changed some years back.
Why so SERIOUS
Good showing for Natasha Howard again today: 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Also like what I'm seeing from Marissa Coleman: 21 points 6 rebounds.
And Lynetta Kizer: 12 points 6 rebounds
First badish game for Natasha Howard. 5 points 5 rebounds. Shot 1 of 7 from the field.
Chicago started Sasha Goodlett at center. 6 points 4 rebounds. I figured she was done playing when we released her. Guess not.
Nother good game for Natasha Howard. 16 points and 4 rebounds. She shot 7 of 8. She seems like the most promising first round pick we've had in quite a while.
The WNBA is waccckk!
We just picked up Maggie Lucas for a 2015 2nd round pick. I think it's a great pickup to fill in what we'll miss with Pohlen out.
On a similar note, is Kelly Krauskopf one of the best GMs in all of professional sports or what? Just look at her track record (just off the top of my head, not in chronological order).
Takes a chance on an injured Catch in the draft.
Trades a 2nd round pick for Zellous!
Finds Larkins from being out of the league for 2 years.
And in this draft she picks up Howard (who looks awesome so far, both in potential and immediate impact) and Achonwa.
Not to mention the transition of power she's overseen for after Linn retires.
When we speak about the Fever being a model franchise of professionalism, we often look at Catch, but we shouldn't forget Krauskopf at the top.
The Fever waived Jeanette Pohlen. Also waived Victoria Macaulay. They're down to the 12 player limit now.

Gotta love the flexibility on this roster. Lots of players can play multiple positions. It gives Coach Dunn the ability to match-up well regardless of the opponent or need.
It's opening night! Here are the projected starting lineups from:
Two former Fever starting for Chicago.Probable Starters
Fever: F- Tamika Catchings, F- Marissa Coleman, C- Erlana Larkins, G- Shavonte Zellous, G- Briann January
Sky: F- Jessica Breland, F- Tamera Young, C- Sasha Goodlett, G- Elena Delle Donne, G- Courtney Vandersloot
Catchings didn't play tonight as the Fever lost 74-71 after being up 18 in the first quarter. Erlana Larkins with a costly technical foul with about a minute left might have been the difference.
The box score said Catchings wasn't with the team. I wonder why she was listed as a probable starter?
Very disappointed in Larkins for picking up that late tech. It completely changed the outlook of the final minutes as it forced the Fever to foul.
This was a game we should have won, even without Catch, since Chicago was without Fowles and Prince and we had an 18 point lead. Lots of first-game-of-the-season type mistakes to clean up. I'm looking for more out of our seasoned vets, Bri and Z, as well. Natasha Howard was the most encouraging takeaway from this game, by far. Great first game for the rookie. Nice touch around the basket with either hand, quick first step, unreal length and very active on the glass. I have a feeling it's going to be a real treat to watch her develop over the years.
