Default A complete analysis of what is wrong with the Pacers.

The offense - Not good the last four games.

The defense - Not good the last four games.

But tonight starts a new win streak.

No, he said complete, not detailed.

I saw the thread title and honestly figured there would be some real analysis and figured I should check it out when I had a few minutes. So I waited a little while to check it out and this is what we got.

    Ok, I gotcha.

    Complete analysis: We suck.

Detailed analysis: We suck. A lot.

Clearly our defense has dropped off a lot, we used to allow 82ppg now we allow well over 90. Have teams figured out how to defeat our defense (better mid range shooting, run, good rotations etc...) or have the Pacers simply gotten tired.

Our inability to score has taken pressure off of our opponents.
They now feel that every shot doesn't necessarily have to count.
They can just screw around and get 90 points and that'l do it. So they play loose.
We on the other hand have lost confidence in our shooting touch.
In that respect it's a mind game, and we're dazed and confused.
I am hoping that Bynum's inside game gives us a boost, opens the court for us a little,
and let's everyone relax that brain cramp so we can remember who we are.

I am looking for that very thing. The P's will reel off a string of wins that will get nowhere near the pub of the losses.

They've figured the Pacers defense out more than the Pacers have gotten tired. Everyone knows the best way to defeat the Pacers is to involve Roy Hibbert in as many pick and roll plays as possible. When Roy has to venture out towards the perimeter to contain the dribbler, his man cuts hard to the basket, this sucks the defense into the paint, and at this point several good opportunities open up for the opposing team. Dwight and Wright (sounds like an accoustic folk duo), Shawn Marion, and Dalembert got several alley-oop opportunities out of the pick-and-roll. This also opens them up for wide open midrange shots.

Teams have been "picking" the Pacers defense to death to get good looks from behind the arch. If other players drop down from the perimeter or leave their man to cut off the rolling player, they leave an open 3-point shooter.

On offense, they are missing shots that they were knocking down in November and December. It's as simple as that. David West missed at least 3 layups and a dunk against the Mavs. Paul George had the 0-9 game against the Bobcats. George Hill missed about 3 short shots in the 4th quarter of the Mavs game as well. I'll just save time and say that every starter has had multiple bad shooting nights over the last 30 games.

The bench (the ones logging the most minutes) can't score either. Scola is no longer money from 18 feet and can't even score 3' from the basket. C.J. has been hampered by injury, and the rest of the team is wildly inconsistent. Making some shots, at least the wide open and/or close ones would make it much easier on the defense as well because made baskets allow you more time to get back and set up your halfcourt defense.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

Noel can be applied to the 76ers game as well! You're a genius.

I find it odd that we can be world beaters and then just fall apart. That by itself tells me the issue is not on the court but off. JMHO.

yes, that is it in a nutshell. And if Roy doesn't come out far enough then the point guard pulls up for a 15 ft jumper.

But I don't think this is new, teams have been doing this for a couple of years now.

You're right, it's not new but the last 4 teams they faced have the personnel to take advantage of it better than most. Boston should be easier but it's in everyone's game plan now.

Truthfully he should have immediately been traded by the 76ers to the Pelicans for Eric Gordon. Imagine the broadcast chaos on local TV.
