Outside of the turnovers I thought the Pacers played pretty well tonite.
This is like saying outside of the extremely high fever and projectile vomiting, this flu really wasn't too bad.

I thought the defense and specifically the transition D was pretty pathetic.

Scola has turned into a lazy **** btw. Dude stands around in every facet of the game. Doesn't rebound, doesn't defense, doesn't move on offense. Lazy, lazy, lazy. This was one of the knocks against him in Phoenix last year too that he was often just lazy.

Every time there was a loose ball in the 4th there were 4 or 5 Mavs pursuing (and winning the possession) to one Pacer. I don't see the passion and attitude. On offense I see a lot of one man play, little ball movement, virtually no player movement. Is this the same team from the first half of the season? If you're going to lose, at least leave it all out there - AS A TEAM.

Why is Copeland not playing for Scola when our bench cant score?

Looked better but still lost, thats all that matters. Damn shame we can't take advantage of Miami losing.

Even without the laziness....WTF happened to his shot? He was brought in for that and now he can't even bury a wide open flat footed free throw line shot. It's pathetic. It's not only mid rangers either. I've lost count on how many shots he's missed at the rim this year. The great teams all have at least one or two guys who are automatic if left open. The Pacers have nobody. Not even West at this point.

I don't think there is anyway this team get the #1 seed now. Miami has a switch, and they are about to flip it on this coming week. Those guys have too much pride to keep struggling like they have been. I'm not sure the Pacers have a clue as to how to fix this. Another playoff team, another loss.

IMO Tuesday against Boston is a must win. Then they will have a couple of days to work out the kinks in practice.

THis is what I keep saying. If they can't defend at a high level, then they need to get some firepower to keep up the scoring.

I truly hope we can look back at this and say damn that was weird, just like the Colts did in 2006.

That being said, I have real concerns that everyone is too focused on fixing the offense and is completely ignoring the major issues we have right now on defense.

George Hill was probably our best starter tonight. If someone is bashing him they should stfu. This offense doesn't require a traditional PG, never has and never will.

The team has a Def rating of 105.2 since the all star break. This is AWFUL. The offense is at 103.1. Actually not that bad, but the defense has just been on a cliff dive.

No doubt. I read these posts about Copeland being the savior and I about smh off my shoulders. This team has serious issues having lost 4 games in a row and while they weren't completely blown out they look disorganized on offense. They look unfocused on defense. There's something else going on with this team. Nobody is talking though. I think Bird ticked off some of them. JMHO.

    1. ghill wasnt better than paul george or lance
    2. offensively, he had a good scoring night.
    3. did you watch him attempt to play defense tonight?

this has nothing to do with him being a traditional PG, it has to do with him getting beat off the dribble and deciding that PG or Lance didnt deserve a touch in the final 3 minutes before the game got out of hand

Well, our biggest issue bar none is scoring on the bench. Who's our best shooter on the entire team? Probably Copeland. He will help. Bynum will help(Mahimi stinks and has always stunk). Butler can contribute. Two of those three guys have no reason to NOT be getting more time and yet Vogel is stubborn as hell. He's annoyingly stubborn. This is a good team and for whatever reason, he hates shooters.

His defense wasn't a problem at all. When teams run pick and roll all game long, others have to step out and do their part. That's the point of the PnR, teams are picking on West and Hibbert's inability to step out and defense.

Don't take this wrong, but I question how much basketball you've played in your life ... you don't know how annoying it is to defend in a PnR situation until you've done it.

yea and he needs to recover. its very annoying, ive played basketball my whole life. its basic understanding that if youre going to guard the pnr like we do, you need to recover so the #2 defender can get back to his man.

just because its annoying doesnt mean he gets a pass. most of their offense was initiated by PnR and since we recover slow (and have for the last 3 years), we get killed.

if youre gonna sit here and tell me george hill played good pick and roll defense tonight, then maybe you need to be questioning yourself. he struggles with quick guards, always has and always will. with CJ, we win this game.
