Not too long ago it looked like we may have 4-5 teams with 60+ wins. Now I'm not so sure we'll have even one.

    2) Oklahoma City 59-23
    4) Indiana 58-24
    5) Houston 57-25

It may end up being a blessing in disguise. Brooklyn is unlikely to fall back to the #6 seed, so they'll have to overtake Toronto for the #3 if we want them to face Miami in the second round (assuming we get the #1 seed).

Can we replace the word 'race' in the title with dawdle?

At this point if we get homecourt in the east, I'll be satisfied. Not expecting to catch the Thunder or Spurs. Although we have each at home coming up.

The Pelicans claim another victim, this time the Clippers:

    1) San Antonio 61-21
    2) Oklahoma City 59-23
    3) Indiana 58-24
    3) Miami 58-24
    5) Houston 57-25
    6) LA Clippers 55-27

    Only 10 games left!

Magic number over the Heat is down to 9. That's not including the tiebreaker which we will most likely have (conference wins) if both teams end up tied in the standings.

Final schedules for Pacers and Heat:

    Pacers
    @ Washington
    @ Cleveland
    vs. San Antonio
    vs. Detroit
    @ Toronto
    vs. Atlanta
    @ Milwaukee
    @ Miami
    vs. Oklahoma City
    @ Orlando

    Heat
    @ Detroit
    @ Milwaukee
    vs. Toronto
    vs. Milwaukee
    vs. Minnesota
    vs. New York
    vs. Brooklyn
    @ Memphis
    vs. Indiana
    @ Atlanta
    @ Washington
    vs. Philadelphia

Miami has very few "hard" games left. If New York is still on a tear and pushing for that #8 seed, then that could be tough. The Memphis game will be hard. And of course they have to play us. Other than that, each one of those games should be an easy win for the Heat. They could go on a tear to finish the year.

On the other hand, we still have games against San Antonio and OKC (at home) in addition to Miami (in Miami). We definitely have the harder schedule to finish the year. On the other hand, with a magic number of 8 or 9 and 10 games remaining, we should be ok. We just need to lose fewer games than Miami. That should be do-able.

Yikes. I didn't realize how friendly Miami's remaining schedule is. We can not afford to keep playing 500 ball and expect to get the one seed IMO. Miami has maybe 3 losses left.

Three losses would be awesome. We could actually just about play .500 ball if Miami was gonna lose 3 more games. Three Miami losses plus 5 Indiana wins gives a magic number of 8, which will probably be sufficient.

If Miami wins out the Pacers have to go 8-2. If the Heat lose 3 of their remaining games the Pacers have to go 5-5 to secure the east.

I think they are going to rest guys now. Unless they can make a push, but I'm not sure.

The Pacers have 5 games left against teams with losing records. Miami has 6.

The Spurs @ Pacers game could end up being very important for determining the overall #1 seed.

considering that is a 2nd of a back2back, i am already considering it an automatic loss. it wouldn't even have to be a good team either. the way they have played for months now but especially on the 2nd of b2b's, they could just as easily lose to an nbdl squad and I'm only half joking about that.

Miami will have trouble at Memphis and they haven't beaten the Nets this year I believe. Other than that they should win out.
Pacers must go 6-3 to keep #1 seed. Good luck with that when we can't score 80 points.

The Spurs are a team that our guys will get up for and actually put their brains to use from the opening tip. I honestly have more faith in them winning against the Spurs on Monday over someone like the Raptors or Bobcats.

Even if we get up for the heat, thunder, and spurs (and beat them) we still have to win against three of the Pistons, Cavs, Hawks, Bucks, Raptors, and Magic. As long as we continue to play to the level of our opponents I have a hard time seeing us get the 1 seed. We either need to play like we did against Miami EVERY GAME ( at least show the same effort) or we are in trouble.
