Default The official Race for the # 1 seed thread.

    Indiana Pacers. 46- 15

    Miami Heat. 43-16

    Oklahoma 46-16

    San Antonio. 45-16

    Houston Rockets 42-19

It's gonna be an exciting race to the end of the season. Houston in my opinion has surprised almost everyone (except themselves tbh) with their strong second half of the season. A win over us tonight would really make things interesting to say the least.

It almost feels as thought every game is a must win.

In order to get a clearer picture of how things stand I think we need to look at the remaining schedules for each team.

To get a projection of final records, I think you have to assume that (a) each team will win all remaining games against teams with losing records, and (b) each team will win all of their remaining home games. Obviously, it's unlikely that things will play out exactly like that, but it does give us an idea of approximately what to expect the rest of the way.

I'll post all of the teams remaining schedules, with their project final records based on the aforementioned criteria. Teams that currently have .500 or better records on each schedule will be posted in BOLD.

Just curious Shade when you were doing your predictions did you consider Miami having more back to backs?

No, I didn't take B2Bs into account because I consider it too much of a variable. Some teams are affected greatly by B2Bs while others don't seem fazed by it as much.

I'm just crunching the cold, hard numbers right now.

Right now, Miami appears to be the in the driver's seat, but they also have more games remaining than the other teams (23 vs. 20).

    Projected final records:

    1) Miami 62-20
    2) Indiana 60-22
    3) Oklahoma City 59-23
    3) San Antonio 59-23
    5) Houston 56-26

The Pacers @ Heat game could end up being huge.

I'll continue to update as things change.

I still think it all comes down to our 2 head to head games with Miami personally, unless our wheels really are all the way off.

It very well might. Right now, there's a split projected. But if the Pacers could take both games that would bring both teams to a projected 61-21, and would give Indy the tiebreaker.

I was amazed to see how close each team's SOS is over the last 20+ games. What gives Miami a slight edge is the fact that they face most of the good teams on their home floor.

Chicago beats Miami today. We have a 2 game lead going into tonight's game at Dallas. 1 game up in the lost column.

Miami is helping us out big time right now.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

I wonder in a sense if this team is better as the underdog vs the Heat. even with HCA the pacers still go into a series with the Heat as underdogs right?

seems insensible to ask but as the #1 seed in the East are we the favorites if heat and pacers meet up in ECF simply due to HCA. HCA or not pacers are going to have to have a chip on shoulder mentality to beat the defending champs.

i just hope the pacers do not become "lax" if we are able play games 1 & 2 at the Fieldhouse. recent on the court performance suggests this team is still soft in some respects.

for crying out loud, we got threads on is PG playing too hard? seriously?

Yeah? We are. But, they are also helping us big time. I tend to look at things from a Pacer perspective though.

Not trying to pick on you specifically, but I see things like when Miami loses the Pacers are getting bailed out, but whenever we lose it is because we are done and Miami is going to catch us and maybe we won't even beat Chicago and could we even beat Charlotte? It's frustrating.
