Default Ex-Pacers Making Us All Look Like Idiots

Seems like every other day the NBA news wires feature PD targets of ridicule making headlines of some sort. Guys leave Indiana and find their game. Green goes off for 41 against the Thunder and has been good all year. DJ Augustine getting interviewed at halftime right now for his great play. McRoberts has been really solid the last 2 years. Plumlee is exceeding everybody's expectations on here. Meanwhile our improved bench(on paper) is playing about like last year's bench. This is getting a little ridiculous. Maybe they read PD and it lit a fire under their asses. I find it quite amusing myself. Is Indiana's bench a black hole for players?

They arent making us look like idiots, they are just findind success elsewhere, it happens all the time, and Plumlee really cant do anything besides rebound and dunk

All of us? Not really. The only people that look like idiots (to borrow your title, I don't believe that anyone is an idiot) are the ones that ridiculed those players and wanted to run them out of town.

The ones who defended those players and attributed their below par performance in Indiana to some real issues (like a bad fit for our offense in Green's case, a bad fit for our defense in DJ's case and lack of playing time in Plumlee's case) look really good now

Not really impressed by DJ. He's been with so many teams, he'd have to find his game eventually. Green would still be here if he played like he is in Phoenix. Plumlee will never develop an offensive game so he's a moot point. McBob has 8 points tonight.

On some level this is puzzling. Augustin, Green and Plumlee look like studs. Some of it (in the case of Plumlee/Green), has to do with the style suiting their talents, but the Augustin play is tough to make sense of.

It is rough knowing that our starters outplayed Miami and if our bench played anywhere near this we would have been in the finals last season.

What? DJ was close to being out of the league. Now he is a major contributor for a playoff team. Not too many guys can make both of these claims in the same season.

The only reason we'd look like "idiots" is because we attempted to place these players into a system where their style of play didn't fit (Augustin and Green). I'm not convinced we really ever wanted to give up Plumlee.

Don't diminish McBob's good play. He's a team player. He could easily average 13 points instead of 8 if he were more selfish. He's unselfish to a fault sometimes.

Not so much. Chicago's offense is PG-centric. Our offense is quite the opposite of that.

BTW.....I didn't really mean anyone on here is literally an idiot, but I do remember a lot of posts that acted like these guys were the worst players in the league or something. I always believed in McBob and Plumlee, but I'm sure I let Green have it a few times myself

I don't care about the offenses. Charlotte wasn't too broke up about letting DJ go, he comes here and plays lousy then signs in Toronto for peanuts and can't outplay Dwight Bychus and is then released. The dude was a fringe NBA player at one point this season and is now a major playoff contributor. It is not a common occurrence.

Chicago has a PG-centric system, much better for him. Indy is the opposite, we make every PG look worse.

It's not a common occurence, you do have a point.

But it doesn't surprise me that he is playing a lot better in Chicago. Frankly, Chicago is a quite good team. They have a great coach, a great defense, a very good Center (Noah) and several other quite good players (Gibson, Butler and even Boozer at times).

They are also a team that is supposed to revolve around their PG. Rose has been injured the past two years but every PG that has replaced him in the starting line-up has produced very good results (except Marquis Teague). We saw the same thing last year with Nate Robinson.

Agreed about Tibs. He does have a good system for pg's, but man, if he can't get something out of a player it was never there to begin with.

I think it really just highlights some of the problems Vogel has with developing an effective and consistent offensive system. Although that has nothing to do with McBob. I wish we could have kept him over Hansbrough, and would probably take him over Scola today.

Gerald Green and Augustin benefit greatly from their team's style of play. Gerald obviously prefers the up tempo scheme, while the system they run in Chicago is very point guard oriented, so of course Augustin is going to thrive (especially with an injured Derrick Rose). And McRoberts plays for the Bobcats, enough said. Any team that has McRoberts as a starter, I can't take seriously.

I would say it is making Vogel's offensive design look idiotic more than anything.

For what it is worth Orlando Johnson has shot 3 for 16 from the field in limited minutes with the Kings. Also, for what it is worth I don't feel good about it at all. He has overcome a lot, but this isn't exactly a great omen.
