Default George Hill out tonight against Boston

The Pacers will be without their starting point guard when they face the Celtics in Boston Saturday night (8 p.m.). George Hill, who suffered a bruised left shoulder late in Indiana’s win over Milwaukee on Thursday, is being held out.

“I felt like I just lost the feeling in my arm for a while and when it started to come back a little bit, I knew I was OK,” Hill said after Thursday’s game. “I knew from there that it’ll be alright.”

C.J. Watson will make his fourth start of the season.

Frank Vogel and the training staff made the decision to hold Hill out likely as a precaution, as they plan to keep playing for another four months. Plus, tonight the team is beginning a taxing stretch of five games in seven nights.

Even without him, Hill has complete confidence in his teammates.

“I mean we’re fine,” he said. “All season long when guys go down or a guys not feeling good or healthy, others have stepped up in their spot. I feel like we’re one of the deepest teams in the league and that’s what we strive for.”

Hill, who averages 10.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, won’t be on the floor for just the fourth time this season — the first time since a sore left hip kept him out of three of the first five games.

This injury isn’t new for him. Hill dealt with a left shoulder contusion last season, one of at least 10 documented injuries he fought through.

Granted Hill played well against Milwaukee, but George looks like he could use a rest. I know he is dinged up, but CJ will do just fine. I am not too worried.

Just start Lance at PG and Turner at SG. Problem solved. Of course, CJ will be starting...

CJ and Sloan have both played well when Hill has been out.

I love Lance, but not at pg. I like CJ at the point and Lance at the two with the starting unit. Lance can create on the second unit IMO.

We'll be fine. If we lose to the Celtics it will be due to coasting lazy play or the Celts having an outlier night shooting the ball., not missing Hill.

Well, Frank was listening to you BnG, he didn't start with that lineup but he finished with it. Evan acted more of the point guard though.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Nice to see that CJ & Sloan combined for 1 turnover. Nothing else in the boxscore stands out from the PG position, but one TO from the backups is a good thing.

    Well done guys.

Yes and after that game I am convinced that Turner would be the better PG. I say that in part because Lance is better playing off the ball. Lance is also better on the boards. He's more creative around the basket scoring and has the passing skills to make an effective second pass...which is normally to a more open man.
