Default Orlando Johnson To Sign With Kings

Orlando Johnson will sign a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

Johnson was recently released by the Indiana Pacers.

The Kings originally drafted Johnson in the 2012 NBA draft

    Goodluck OJ

I thought he would end up in Phoenix or Chicago they seem to be doing well with former Pacers.

Pulp makes out like a bandit here assuming he can keep the Sacto locker room from infecting him. Plenty of opportunity for PT on the wing in Sacto IMO and he gets to be closer to home? Pretty good deal for him, yeah he's missing a chance on a championship, but all in all not a bad landing spot for him.

Hope he finds success. Seems like a great kid and a great teammate. Reading about his personal history and backstory when we drafted him, I immediately had a soft spot for him. So I really hope he finds a place to stick and carves out a successful career! Maybe with the Pacers again someday!

Always feel for young guys on a veteran team that are making a run for it and no chance for PT to prove and learn on the job. Be interesting if we bring Rasual Butler back this summer (or another SF veteran), or go forward with the plan to feed Solomon Hill as the 2nd unit SF. Seems Danny and PG turned the corner in their 2nd-3rd year and it'd be a way to save $ and have more dollars for ET/Lance.

I wish him the best. Really hoped he'd have found a home w/ the Pacers. I think he's talented enough to be a quality backup sg.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

This should be an excellent opportunity for OJ to get some more consistent minutes and earn playing time. I am happy for him.

    Good for him.

Mostly got caught in a numbers game here on a roster loaded with talent.

    Good luck, Pulp!

Knowing the Pacers luck with former players recently, here's the 20 ppg Pulpsanity coming to Sacramento...
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Assuming only one of Turner or Lance are brought back, you have to sign Butler or another wing player. Hopefully Hill will improve enough to play over Butler next year, but if he isn't he isn't really an acceptable 3rd wing.

He will fit in well in Sacramento, small guard who likes to shoot.

Good luck OJ. Probably landed in the worst possible situation for a young guard, but best of luck, hope you make a contender notice your play.

If you injected him with truth serum, he'd take 25 to 30 minutes per game on a losing team over a ring at this point in his career. He needs to establish himself as an NBA player.

I think he is, but he still hasn't established that yet. I'm not surprised someone picked him up so quickly.

I was glad to hear that Bird was pretty high on OJ. Bird seemed to really like him as a person and made a comment about 'how you never know maybe OJ will come back in the future' sort of thing. I think he actually has a chance to come back for us maybe next year or sometime.

Personally, I would rather we cut Sloan than OJ but what do I know? I have always liked OJ since we drafted for him and saw his Youtube college videos. Last year had a solid stretch of minutes for us and was shooting it from deep nicely for a while.

Actually, we had Sacto draft him for us. We bought their pick.

I hope he makes it there. Always seemed like a total feel-good story how he ended up in the NBA and he's some of the guys you sort of want to see succeed in the NBA, maybe not to offset some of the other ***-hat athletes that inhabit the NBA abundantly, but just because he gives me a really positive vibe.

Goodluck in SacTown, OJ, make sure to stick around!

Yeah, plus if the Pacers win the title this season, I'm sure he gets a championship ring and all that still.

For depth purposes (when/if hit by injuries), the 3rd-string point guard is MUCH more important than 6th/7th wing. When we needed Sloan in early-November, he gave good back-up minutes in 3 wins (when Hill was out). He hasn't been needed since, but you never know when GH or CJ will go down for a game or slew of them... That's why cutting OJ instead of Sloan was a no-brainer.

Honestly, I would be shocked if OJ lasted much longer as an NBA player. The man simply isn't good enough, nor does he possess the understanding of the game, to last. Could ultimately become a very good player in Europe.

Just an FYI. In 7 minutes during the first half of tonight's King's game Orlando did in fact make a 3 point shot.
