Holy Debbie Downer thread (for the most part). Don't know if was the Granger trade or what that has people down in the dumps.
Speaking for myself, I wasn't high on the Bynum signing when it happened, and nothing's changed since. I may change my mind if and when he starts playing.

I'm actually cautiously optimistic about Turner - I was actually defending Turner in the rumors thread before we traded for him. And I even have modest expectations for Lavoy Allen. Bynum's just a different beast.

Zach Randolph somehow got his act together. If Bynum follows that pattern, we may be in great shape. If he follows that pattern, Roy had better start playing better on offense. Otherwise, Bynum really isn't worth much.

Ok, will guess sometime between 9th-15th.

I think many here are not too high on Bynum because they are leary of him
being a potentially negative influence on our young guys. Sure, he brings
championship experience, but he also brings experience in "actin a fool".
Hearing this "mercurial" word thrown around lately to describe him doesn't
    help matters either.

I honestly don't know what to think either way, but he's wearing the
blue & gold now so will be rooting for his success, and will form an opinion
after actually seeing for myself how things work out.

Doug Collins said Bynum was fine in Philly. And that Cleveland stuff was more Cleveland and less Bynum. I think there's a small possibility we could see him Friday after next on ESPN vs. Houston.

Cut him and bring back Danny!

How out of shape could Bynum have possibly gotten in those few weeks?

no idea but I suspect he would need at least a solid month prior to the postseason to see what we got.. so I went with mid march. I think some of the minutes may come by simply blowouts.

the way Mahimini is playing im sticking by my original statement. Bynum will have to earn those minutes. I know Ian is this boards whipping boy for many but I like what he has given us the last month and half. he started playing well just prior to Bynum pickup and of late has been extremely solid defenisively by blocking shots.

    *sidenote
anyone tired of the Bynum mumbling in interviews. thought it was a jitters thing maybe when he first signed but its gotten to be an annoyance. maybe the cat is hesitant of what to say, he is still mumbling on about why he signed with Indiana.

I love what the BnG are doing. Make this guy want to get on the court instead of him feeling like he is privileged or entitled to those mins.

regarding Bynum practicing,, all it was was him doin the conditioning, I don't believe he is in on the 5-5 sets yet. Bynum hasn't even got a number yet on his jersey in practice.

apologize if this has been posted already but did not see it.
    Bynum update

Of course, Turner and Allen aren't the only new Pacers. Andrew Bynum is working back into shape after an extended layoff. He last played Dec. 26 (for Cleveland).

Vogel is pleased with what he's seen so far from Bynum, who practiced in limited action for the first time Friday.

"He's worked every day over two hours a day getting treatment and strength and conditioning around his knees and conditioning of his body," Vogel said. "Our strength and conditioning coach just killed him and he responded to every bit of it with 'give me more.'

"His intensity and determination to get himself ready to go is something we're pretty happy with."

Bynum traveled with the team to Milwaukee and participated in the morning shoot-around but not the pre-game availability.

^Between that and the fact that Bynum has been yucking it up with his teammates on the bench over the last few games, I remain cautiously optimistic about the signing. I think that he'll give us something.

Just read a Michael Pointer article about Bynum, Turner, Allen, and Sloan all practicing together today. Vogel was teaching the new guys plays. The article has a photo of Turner driving on Bynum. Bynum has a brace on his right knee.

Great quote from DWEST. At this point I believe Bynum will be on the roster after March 1st.

“We'll be fine,” West added. “Andrew's been here for three weeks and he's fit in fine. Lavoy and Evan are good guys. They understand what's expected of them. Our locker room is strong. There's not going to be a lot of room for guys coming in slacking. Everyone knows their responsibility.”

Like IndyCornRows' article this morning said, his opinion and mine are that the Pacers are going to keep downplaying his return and then suddenly he'll be playing. Probably a wise attitude to have; it guards them from setbacks on the fan expectation front.

I figured all the naysayers would collectively take a sigh of relief when seeing that quote.

If Bird didn't believe in what he has built could handle Bynum he wouldn't have brought him in.

During the game tonight it was said he's started practicing with the team. I wonder if that means with contact or not. I noticed he was on the bench tonight. Was he in Minnesota, too?
Yeah, Minny was his first road game

I don't disagree that Bynum is fitting in. I just think Ian has been playing really well lately, especially on defense.

However, the fact he's practicing plays specifically with the other new guys makes me wonder, maybe he surprises us tomorrow?

He's in shape physically. But remember.........he's gotta run up and down the floor. Play many minutes, especially in the playoffs. That's what he's training like MAD for. To not get winded too fast. If at all.

No Bynum should go when he's ready. Ian has been blocking shots more often these days. But the guy still has horrible butterfingers, cannot score in the post, and is not an offensive threat. If they wanna do a twin towers thing, where Ian plays a few minutes at PF with Bynum fine. But I am not cool with having no low post game from our bench.

Did you watch Bynum in Cleveland this year? He was not finishing well aroudn the rim. You can blame a lot of his stuff in Cleveland on it being a bad culture there, but that doesn't seem to be one of them.

Depends on which game you're talking about. His 1st game with them?

An unmotivated player often settles and I "hope" that was the reason for his poor offensive play. Hopefully West is right and he is on board with the winning culture here.

There are a lot of games to choose from when speaking to how terrible Bynum was in Cleveland, but his 0/11 performance against Detroit was truly a special performance for one.

Maybe, I just think it's very possible he's lost his ability to gain leverage in the post with that knee. We'll have to see.

Well, if that was after all the shi-toki-mushrooms started up in the Cleveland locker room and stuff, he probably wasn't focused. I point to his 20 and 10 game as examples of what he can really do.
