Default Poll: When do you anticipate Bynum will start playing?

I don't have a great sense of when exactly I expect Bynum to play, so I thought I'd take a poll and see how the forum feels about this.

It seems there's 0 chance he plays this coming week, so let's start with March:

    March 2nd-8th
    March 9th-15th
    March 16th-22nd
    March 23rd-29th
    Later than that (please specify)

I really don't know, but I'm going to tell myself March 16th-22nd until further notice.

I don't think he will play at all.

I also have zero expectations out of Bynum. Anything he can give us will be a positive surprise to me.

IMO we didn't get Bynum just to rot on our bench. He's (can be) to much of an asset for us not to use at our disposal.

    November 1st with another team.

I am only 1/3 joking. I have real doubts he'll ever play for us. Not predicting that, but put the chances of that at 33%

If the other players want him on the team, fine. But if not, I would prefer that we cut him next week. I don't think we need Andrew Bynum to win it all and I'm not sure I want him to be considered the piece to get us over the top.

Edit: But I expect him to remain on the team this year...with his first game being in the March 16-22 range.

I won't be surprised if he doesn't do much, but I would be downright shocked if he never got a chance to play. I can't imagine that Bird would bother bringing him in if he didn't think there was a likely chance that he'd play.

I'm still cautiously optimistic about this. I'll go March 9-15.

I think it depends on how Ian continues to play and how Turner performs.

I don't think it has a thing to do with how Ian plays. Bynum, if healthy, is far better than Ian. It depends on Bynum's health and how he fits in the locker room.

If Ian is playing like he has the past few games, whcih is to say 5 boards 5-6 points and a couple blocks while also getting up and down the court, then there really is no reason for Bynum. Turner, Lance and Scola will eat every single possession offensively for the bench and based on how bad Bynum was offensively in Cleveland this year they are all better options at this moment. I think Bynum will only show up if Ian goes into a really horrible slump, he may do just that, but it is clear the team isn't sweatng when they will play Bynum.

I somewhat agree. I think Bynum was signed to be an insurance policy and to keep him away from Miami. I am not sure he was signed to be a big factor. That said, I would imagine he would start getting spot minutes mid March or so.

Just reading this thread, it sounds like everyone is down on Bynum, which is surprising considering he has yet to play a minute for us.

I mean honestly what is there to be up on him about? He's got a terrible rep and mailed it in at his last two stops. If he gives us minutes great, but I realy don't think there's any reason to give him a benefit of the doubt at this point. He's only good for comic relief. JIMMMER!!!!!!

The hope that maybe he figures it out and turns it around? The same could've been said for Rasheed Wallace once upon a time. There's still a behemoth of a man there with lots of tools and talent for a big. I'm neither up nor down, I'm just refusing to pass judgment until A) I hear grumblings about him being a bad teammate in this current locker room B) He's terrible on the court.

Did you hear his interviews when he first signed with the Pacers? I mean jeeze, it is tough to be jumping up and down when Bynum himself doesn't seem excited.

That is what the board does to players. Part of how a player does is also related to the system established by the coach. In this system I think he can help providing a
Roy type effect on defense and maybe more offense than Ian. With Roy, Bynum and Ian the Pacers have 3 legitimate centers. I have felt the Pacers needed another
competent big to compete especially against Miami and Oklahoma.

As noted before by someone.....the Heat make their living in the paint ( where the Big 3 score their vast majority of their point inside the paint or by attacking the paint ). This begs for them to attack and draw 8 quick fouls over the course of many games against Hibbert and Mahinmi to get them into foul trouble. If we anticipate this.....which will happen when it comes to the Big 3 getting favored calls by Refs during the ECF.....it would make the most sense to get Bynum some regular minutes at some point in the regular minutes with the core 8 Players that will be getting the primary minutes in the Playoffs. At the very least......it would be naive of us to simply start giving Bynum foul trouble minutes during the ECF. You dont want Bynum to look completly lost and out of game-shape when it comes time to use him......which is ( at this point ) a given when it comes to the Heat.

I have doubts about Ian's consistency, but absolutely this. If Ian just keeps doing what he's done last few games, there's no need for another center besides Ian & Hibbert to get meaningful minutes.

If Bynum is healthy AND motivated, he is an all-star, dominant C. There is no way Ian Mahinmi gets minutes over that. But if Bynum is not both of those things, particularly healthy, it's an easy decision to play Ian. This isn't going to be a controversy because it's not going to be close either way.

I just don't understand why we would pay him a million dollars if we didn't think he was going to play. I'm pretty sure he will play and I expect him to remain on the team for the rest of the season. I'll say the first week of March.

I hope soon and very soon... No one will admit it on here of course because he is so loved, but Roy has been horrible of late.. Has a good game about 1 out of 5... If Bynum is healthy I hope he takes some of Roy's mins... Bynum is a lot more dominant rebounds better and shoots a higher %.. I'm not the only one thinking it but probably be the only one to say it...

I accidentally clicked on the wrong poll option. I think he'll play by 2nd week in March. When we initially signed him I said that day that I didn't think he would play until after March 2nd.
