Default The PF / C Rotation

Lots electrons being spilled over Turner, but what about our frontcourt rotation? LaVoy is a PF/C, and we just added Bynum. I'd planned to write a post about playing Bynum at C and Mahinmi at PF, but now everything is even more crazy. The depth chart right now (pre-cuts):

    Roy / Bynum / Mahinmi
    West / Scola / Allen / Copeland
    PG / Turner / Butler
    Lance / OJ / Solo
    Hill / CJ / Sloan
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

Turner is not a 3, he's a 2, slide Cope to 3, and sounds like OJ is out the door.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

He has the ability to play the 3 when needed, though. I think what we'll see is Turner take the backup minutes primarily from Lance, but he will eat into some of Paul's as well. I'd assume that Butler (or possibly Copeland) will also get some minutes at backup 3 and we'll have a ten player rotation.

I'm guessing they think Allen could be the PF to groom behind West. I doubt that Scola is back next year.

    I don't think Copeland is good at 3. He's a 4, at least defensively.

That's what I took away from the deal, too. I'm not sure if he's going to be our PF of the future, but he very well could end up being our backup 4 next year.

    Here's what I see happening.........

    Allen
    Cope
    Ian
    Turner
    CJ

    or.....

    Scola
    Cope
    Allen
    Turner
    CJ

    When Bynum is ready.........

    Allen
    Cope
    Bynum
    Turner
    CJ

Allen has the EXACT same shooting range with his jumper as Scola does. Except, his youth and athleticism means he doesn't get abused by quicker PF's. Lavoy can also block shots and crash the boards well. Aldridge said he had an exceptional playoff series vs Boston in the 2012 semi's.

Don't be surprised if Allen takes Scola's spot in the rotation
    David "And One" West

    OJ's gone.

I'm guessing PG/Lance/Turner as the 3-wing rotation. Hibbert/West/Mahinmi and one of Scola/Allen/Copeland as the big man rotation. Scola is either hurt or lost his mojo, Copeland for whatever doesn't seem to have Vogel's confidence, so I think Allen will have a real shot at a rotation role. I won't even consider Bynum until he's healthy and playing.

So I blame the new way the announcer at the Fieldhouse says Luis Scola like ricola as the reason he's struggling. The way it was at the beginning was fine and he was playing well. /shrug

Yeah, Chris is a stretch 4. Which usually means he has no defensive position. But he is less worse as a 4 than a 3.

That, and he can beat 4's off the dribble.

He's solid enough. Probably Pendy level talent. Has some toughness. Should help on the boards.

    Cope's not a 3. Put Butler there.

I still support Copeland as the backup 4 moving forward.
