    Default Danny Granger Appreciation Thread

Thanks Danny for the memories...thanks for sticking with and leading this Team through the really difficult times.

Sorry that this is short...but I'm still stunned by this...so I have little to say for now.

Post your Thoughts and appreciation here.

    Default Remembering Danny

Gonna miss the guy. I wish he could stay for the impending championship run. He deserved it staying with this team so long through so much. Guy has been a professional through and through, and I have not anything bad to say about him. Really just sad to see him go this way, to a team like that. Hope he get's to sign with a contender next year...

    May he find success elsewhere

Danny was a bright light in dark times. I hate to see him go, but after the injury it was pretty much inevitable.

I love Danny, and loved him in his great years, he was really outstanding, but it was time sadly.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I am sure Peck will do a nice write up on him.

I feel bad for him because of the injury, and that he won't be a major contributer to this team. But the injury caused that, not the trade.

Trades are part of the NBA.

(Besides Reggie who didn't the pacers trade or let walk? Smits, who else?

As a fan of the guy and my penchant for nostalgia, I really hate seeing it end like this with Danny. He was the one beacon of light we had in incredibly dark times when all but the diehard fans had turned on the team, attendance was the worst in the NBA, and there were whispers of the Pacers being a candidate for relocation. At some point, it had to end. It still hurts.

He just hasn't been the same since that '12 playoff series against the Heat. I'll remember that Danny and not the 12-14 Danny.

I'm going to do whatever I can to get a #33 jersey, a poster board that reads "THANK YOU DANNY", and a ticket to BLF on March 17th. If we win the championship, he damn well better get a ring and be front and center in the victory parade. He was the one silver lining in several years of dark clouds.

Thank you for your time, DG, you'll go down as the one Pacer of those years who could make news on the court and stay out of it off the court. A real class act, and forever blue and gold in my eyes.

Danny Granger was my first favorite Pacer. If we win this year, he needs to get a ring for all he did from when he was drafted until now. I'll miss him terribly.

Good point. We let Mark Jackson walk in 2000 (and of course traded him in 96 before getting him back). We traded Dale and Antonio. We traded Jalen Rose.

Thanks Granger for being a much needed classy personality after all of the unlikable a-holes we had in the early to mid 2000's. Granger had horrible luck in that he played his physical prime with the likes of Dunleavy/Murphy/Ford/O'Brien and then got hurt once the team got really good.

I suppose this hits people harder who are in their twenties and were too young to know the 90's teams.

Danny, thanks for being the heart and soul of this team ever since Reggie left. Really, tough as nails, a fantastic leader, and one of the classiest players this team has ever seen

I've always appreciated Danny and his game. I always embraced the fact that Danny could get it done in spit of his lack of athleticism and explosiveness at a position where those two attributes are a premium. His best years were wasted by the JOB era.

But I'll always remember the two seasons that brought us back to relevance (2010-2011, 2011-2012) and the DG that was a part of those teams. Those were two of my favorite seasons as a Pacer fan, and being able to watch Danny in the playoffs against CHI, ORL, and even against MIA made me a proud fan.

It sucks he had to go out this way, but we all pretty much figured he was gone after this season.

Best of luck to you captain!

Danny Granger gave us something when we had nothing. Always a class act. Always a total pro. He told Larry to draft PG, fully knowing what that meant come a few years later. Danny Granger has been a fantastic Pacer. I wish him nothing but the best and will miss seeing him in the blue n gold.

I was 17 years old when Danny got drafted. So while I experienced a lot of the Reggie years and all of the JO times, in many ways I felt like I grew up with Danny. I got a little less emotional about the Pacers. I stopped saying proposing trades for no reason, and I realized that just because you really wanted this guy or that guy on the team, it didn't always happen.

I remember watching him drop to us along with Green and getting irrationally excited. I remember reading about the battles he was apparently having with Ron.

This post could go on forever. I was second row center court behind the scorer's bench the night Danny lost his teeth against Boston. Him smiling for the crowd when he came back was an amazing and fun moment. Sports are awesome because of those kind of moments.

He literally gave everything for us. His body is clearly broken now, he's not the same guy. But many nights when the Pacers were bad, Danny was the only reason to turn on the TV.

For that and for always being a model citizen, I don't know that I can ever thank him. Danny was my one thing on those days in college when people would give me **** about the Pacers. "Yeah, but did you see what Danny did last night?" The season he scored 25+ and made the all star game was some kind of fun.

I wish he could be along for the last bit of this journey. But we drafted a kid from New Mexico with bad knees at 17 and he gave us 8 amazing years and literally broke his body for us. Every night Danny put it on the line. Now we trade that 17th pick for a former 2nd overall pick who is younger than him? Pretty crazy. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything Danny. That'll do, that'll do. He will always be a Pacer.

I wish I had known Tuesday....would have liked to give it up one final time......aaaaand the Captain wearing number 33 from New Mexico.....Daaaaaaannnnnnyyyy GRRRRRRRRRRRRANGER
