I kind of, sort of know Chick and he's as connected in the sports world as my cat is.

Take ANYTHING he says with at least a block of salt.

Who is Chick McGee and why does it matter what he/she says?
He is the "sports guy" on a nationally syndicated morning radio comedy show based out of Indianapolis (for thirty years or something).. It doesn't matter what he says at all.. In fact, he frequently makes things up, but this didn't sound like one of those things... it was just really weird... of course they were all in a weird mood this morning since one of their friends, comedian Tim Wilson, died about 36hrs ago..

The Clippers don't have the best track record when it comes to signing broken down vets. This is the team that signed a fat Lamar Odom, a fat Stephen Jackson, and flirted with signing Odom again after he wasn't too far removed from burning rocks. This seems like a team that gets fooled by the name on the back of the jersey.
Lamar Odom was very good for them, though.

Did anybody else here Chick McGee on Bob and Tom this morning talking about this? It sounded like he was implying that Danny was "like that uncle that causes trouble and nobody likes, and everyone can't wait until the aunt divorces him so he won't be in the family anymore..."
I've never seen anybody feel like that about Danny, but he implied Danny was like that at least twice in that little segment.. it was really weird..
    That's odd.

I'm not talking about the young dynamic Lamar Odom that they had from 1999-04, I'm talking about Lamar Odom's 4.0 PPG corpse that they had last year.

And what about the Spurs, Heat, Rockets, Mavs and Bulls? Were they being fooled by the name on the back of the jersey too?

I really dislike the Clippers. At least Danny is in the West, I just don't see the Clippers making it to the finals.

Really good news that Butler is signing with OKC and not Miami.

“It’s still kind of surreal honestly,” Granger said Friday afternoon. “I’ve been in Indiana my whole career. I’ve always seen ‘Granger 33’ with Pacers on top of it. So, it’s going to be a change, but I’ll be happy.”

“I think I bring another dynamic,” Granger said. “I’m a bigger small forward. I can play the 4 as well. And I can shoot the ball and when you add that to the type of offense that we have: up-tempo, shoot a lot of threes, go out and space the court. That’s the kind of offense that I think I would thrive in.”

“I definitely have gotten healthy,” Granger said. “Now it was just a matter of getting my game back and getting my feel and I was on track. I’m still feeling good. So, I still feel like I have a lot to offer and I like the way I’m going.”

“The [Clippers’] offense isn’t very structured and when you have that freedom you can really thrive,” he said. “The last time I played in an offense like that was probably three or four years ago where it’s up and down, you throw it ahead, you can attack the rim, you have lobs because you’re spacing the floor. When you have Blake [Griffin] and DeAndre Jordan you just throw it by the rim. It’s a really unique way to play and a lot of fun.”

Clippers were the ideal landing spot for me. Got tickets to tomorrow's game in hopes he suits up!

I would much rather Danny wear a blue and white "LA" jersey than a gold and purple one. That would be much tougher for me personally.

    Go get'em Danny!

He was really good defensively for them, though. Their defense was markedly better when he was there even if he was bad defensively. That's what I remember at least

He wasn't sixth man of the year Odom, sure, but he was good enough for the Clips to utilize a 3 big man rotation. They'd also finish games with him in over Jordan, though I'm not sure how good of an idea THAT was.

It's not quite as odd as I thought it would be. The blue is a nice transition for us.

Side note: Does anyone else think the white jersey on the hanger looks like a Pistons jersey from the back? Nearly enough to make me puke in my mouth a little.

    Ugh, you're right.

At least the Clippers have among the best looking gear in the NBA. Pacers fans that buy a Granger jersey are going to look a lot better than the Manning fans in those orange atrocities.

Yeah, they really do. Even their sleeved jersey is the lesser of the sleeved jersey evils. Just a clean look with classic colors.

I think he'll be happy and I'm glad for that. But Granger is now a 4 until he proves otherwise. He's not getting any younger, so it's best he transition to the 4. That could extend his career.

Also, he's right about thriving in LA. The Clippers offense is up-tempo, unstructured, lots of threes...just like the JOb years. But the losses shouldn't pile up as bad due to that failed strategy because the Clips have more talent.

The bad news is that he's still not healthy. Not physically nor mentally. His game is not back for at least one of those reasons if not both. He's also not attacking the rim. Not even the bottom of the rim. He may be able to lob to Blake and Deandre, but he's not about to be attacking the rim. Instead he will be playing from 25 or more feet away to space the floor.

Everyone thought Miami would retool through the buyout. Well all the buyout people are gone now. Jimmer and Ben Gordon are the only 2 left. Jimmer will end up with Chicago because they want to offer him a multi-year deal apparently. Ben Gordon, if my math is correct, has exactly 24 hours to get his buyout terms done with Charlotte. Then get signed on the dotted line in Miami, if THEY want him. Oh, and The Clippers and Spurs are apparently ALSO interested in his services. So it looks like the Heat cleared a roster spot for nothing. TOO BAD...*grins*.
