I fully expect Granger to be bought out, and Miami did just cut a player to free up a roster spot...
Why in the world would Philly do that? They might as well have just cut Turner and Allen in that case.

Maybe Bird doesn't think we can keep lance. or maybe he has decided he doesn't want too.

There is always a lot more going on than what we know.

Isn't Turner sort of a Lance type player without Lance's explosivness. Meaning Turner can creat and is a decent passer, but a much better shooter - although he isnt much of a three point shooter

Would you rather have Danny granger's corpse or a championship? Because Indiana's odds just went up today.

Sorry DG, but for real, you have to do what's right if you LB, this was a no brainer, imo. They have 28 games to get some chemistry with the new guys in Bynum and Turner. Let's hope there isn't any loss of focus. This is a very rare opportunity.

Also, can he guard Lebron even semi effectively?

Philly essentially donated two legit rotation guys to Indiana for nothing.
Let's not go too far. Allen won't be a rotation guy in Indy.

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Loyalty is going to kill the Lakers for a long time. And Danny could get more burn on that 76ers team, thus earning a better contract next season.

    What if Time.

What if Turner comes in and is as good as Lance? What if in the summer we tell Turner and Lance that whoever signs for the least stays? What if we have enough left over to sign Danny to a vet minimum contract and have him play the 4?

What if by being pared with MCW that Danny's numbers go up? Imagine the complaining we will hear about Hill and Vogel and Larry and gravity.

A correct trade. Tho it hurts. That's some cold ****. It will make the team better tho.
Find me on the internets @mattiecolin

    Read it and weep:

When George Hill is above 15% usage we won 73.5% of games. Below 15% usage we won 61.9%

I think of Turner as better at everything than Danny but shooting at this point. My concern is Turners defense, I'm not sure what I think about it. He seems smart and unselfish, but I have no idea for sure.

Not really, but a shell Danny Granger wasn't going to be able to.. I think he could guard Wade pretty well though.

If scola keeps playing poorly he will be. Lavoy can play, and he's not a defensive liability like scola.

I feel really bad for Danny and I'm honestly shocked we traded him, even though he was going to be gone at the end of the season anyway. Hopefully this doesn't cause any locker room issues.

From a talent standpoint, though, this was an absolute no-brainer.

    Hate it. Absolutely hate it.

I know I am in the minority here, but I'm a sentimental kinda guy. Trading someone who has been the face of your franchise and a model player through some BAD times, who finally starts working their way back from injury when the team is finally a championship caliber team... Man, that's just flat out cold.

I get that (maybe) this is a positive move from a pure basketball perspective. But I am the kinda guy that wants to do things with a certain class and sense of loyalty.

    This hurts. It really hurts.

Danny deserved the chance to try to go out a Pacer a champion.
We traded a bad basketball player for a good basketball player. If you think that's a bad move because of sentimental reasons, then I'm really glad you aren't in charge of the team. If someone offered you a trade like this in your fantasy league, you'd accept it in a heartbeat. I know this is reality, not fantasy, but the bottom line is winning. This move unquestionably makes us a better team.

Having said that, thanks to Danny for all he did here. I wish him the best.

I always thought that Turner was a very solid defender. But lacks the real quickness to be anything more than really solid. As far as guarding Lebron. I doubt that. Maybe Wade.

Pacers must have concluded that Danny wasn't going to get much better this season

To get that valuable late 2nd round pick.

I agree with everyone saying this could be a good move for Danny Granger in terms of finances and the future of his career if he's given the greenlight to shoot in Philly. Get back on track, and collect another big pay day in the offseason. That should help ease the sentimentalism.

Can't wait for Saturday, he needs to play right away. They aren't asking much from him, just play well off the bench for limited time. I think Turner might be able to facilitate a little which could really tie things together with that group thats gotten too dependant on Lance to create.

If Philly buys out Danny, would it be possible to bring him back at some point this season? I know the NBA recently added restrictions to prevent stuff like this.

Turner will play right away off the bench, have no idea on Allen, I'm assuming he stays on the team, my guess is Butler is cut.

I'm in. Turner is the better player and also gives the team offseason insurance with the Lance situation.
