Well, my mouth went agape upon this news. Sorta sad, sorta happy, definitely stunned. Damn. Much appreciation and love to Danny as he moves on.
Take me out to the black, tell 'em I ain't coming back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.

    Hate it. Absolutely hate it.

I know I am in the minority here, but I'm a sentimental kinda guy. Trading someone who has been the face of your franchise and a model player through some BAD times, who finally starts working their way back from injury when the team is finally a championship caliber team... Man, that's just flat out cold.

I get that (maybe) this is a positive move from a pure basketball perspective. But I am the kinda guy that wants to do things with a certain class and sense of loyalty.

    This hurts. It really hurts.

Danny deserved the chance to try to go out a Pacer a champion.

Without saying anything about the move specifically, condemning or condoning, Larry Bird is a cold mother****er.

So...really going out there...but what if Sixers buy-out Granger...and he signs with the Heat in spite after they cleared a roster spot...I think PD would riot.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I'm so sad right now. My favorite player post Reggie Era is gone. This is some ****ing ****, seriously shocked right now. Danny deserved a real playoff run with this unit he helped to build. ****ing PG wouldn't even be a Pacer if it were for Danny.

Wow. Love Danny and sad he won't win a championship with us, but that's a solid trade. Leaves us weak against big 3s, though. Who pays LeBron/Melo in the post? Turner and Butler are too small.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I understand the emotional ties to Granger....but how is this stupid?

It's a clear upgrade at a minimal cost.

The Sixers visit Bankers Life on Monday March 17th. Less than a month. I would think (and hope) the home crowd would give him a massive ovation.

LaVoy Allen is interesting though. He always seemed to give the Pacers fits.

You guys assuming Bird coldcocked Granger need to consider the possibility that DG requested a trade or at the very least signed off on it. It's a good move for Granger. You can get sentimental all you want, and I'm sure he'll be sad, but his concern is the financial well being of his family and the best way to take care of that is to find a place that would give him PT this season to prove that he's worth a guaranteed contract.

I have no emotional attachment here: it's a no-brainer deal for Indiana. You don't compete for titles with sentiment.

Philly essentially donated two legit rotation guys to Indiana for nothing. Granger for just Lavoy Allen would have been a no-brainer.

I feel like bittersweet is the perfect word to describe today's trade. I wish Danny Granger well.

Turner is 5x the player Granger is at this point in their careers. I would agree if we traded Granger for grabage, but we got a really good player who will help much more than Granger short term and long term potentially. I honestly can't believe Philly gave him away he must have been a problem in the locker room.

Turner was built to play in our offense he is going to love having the ball so much in our offense.

EDIT: this is our Rasheed Wallace trade.

Btw, I liked Lavoy Allen back in his rookie year. A bit similar to Pendy, but better. Not sure what's happened to him since. I expect he'll get a shot at a rotation role, especially with Scola struggling.

The goal isn't to win PR awards. It's to win championships. Granger wasn't part of a solution to winning a championship this year.

Damn, that game doesn't fall in our half season package. Looks like I'll be swapping just to give him some respect.

I'm not sure Danny would necessarily want one. He will probably get a decent amount of PT in Philly and a chance to turn his anemic numbers around and play for that next contract. But yeah, if that happened...war.

This really sucks for Danny. He basically never got a real chance to play for a good time, and he probably never will. *(#&* those damn injuries. The ankle injury at the beginning of the season really screwed him. I have no doubt Danny would have started to play better, he just needed his usual time for his slow start. But the ankle injury pushed his slow start too late into the season and we just couldn't wait anymore.

Probably a really good move for the team, but right now I'm just too emotional over losing one of my favorite players over the last decade to care, and the way it all went down just makes it worse.

There's no real loyalty in professional sports which is why I don't fault players for looking out for themselves if fans think they're selfish. If something better comes along you're expendable.
