I grew up with Evan Turner, he was one of my best friends in elementary/junior high school.

He was frustrated in Philadelphia, but is a really hard worker who prides himself in being a good defender and has always been a winner. I feel bad we traded Danny, but Evan is going to play really hard and smart for us. He fits so well with our identity.

I don't know what Philly gets out of this deal aside from more tanking. There is literally zero downside for the pacers here.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Ignoring the emotional attachment to Granger......this all depends on what else was given up for Turner.

I hope it's nothing more than one of the 2nd round picks.

Fantastic move. Gets them out from under the granger conundrum.

Let's call a spade a spade. The pacers have been crap since he came back. He doesn't fit and he can't play anymore.
I wouldn't say crap, but maybe crap by the standards they have set this year.

He clearly wasn't producing much. Averaging 8 points and Butler is more automatic behind the 3 point line than Danny, which was basically all Danny was being used for so far

We would just have to renounce our rights to Turner as a restricted free agent, otherwise that money is tied up and we couldn't sign Lance to his new contract. Not a major issue, just a note.
Not true. We have Bird rights for Lance, cap hold doesn't affect it.

Somebody from the Pacers has to be added to fit the roster, I assume it would be OJ or Rasual...would suck for Butler as well if he's added, I'm sure he'd be bought out.
We might just cut Allen or Butler . I liked him in college though. He would be nice as insurance to give Scola some rest. We just saved a lot of money so I am pretty sure we will just cut a player (we are well clear of the tax after this deal.

I hate that we traded him to the worst team in the league, but what in the god damn hell are the Sixers thinking?
They're tanking and I think they need Granger's $$$ to reach the salary floor. (could be wrong though)

This definitely helps us big time this year and in the summer.

I'm sort of bummed for Danny. As a Granger fan I'll always be appreciative for his time here and its a shame that he suffered such a catastrophic injury as we became relevant again. I hope he is able to at least get some consistent PT and audition for this summer's FA.

But make no mistake about it, this is a HUGE win for the Pacers. If (when) someone wants to overpay for Lance, we can keep Turner. Bird is a genius.

Nah, no such issues at all, major or minor. You're thinking about lux tax, which only matters at the end of the year. Cap wise we simply operate as an over-the-cap team.

Oh my gosh! I was pretty much resigned to Granger leaving after the season, so honestly I'm not that upset by him leaving, but I'm so excited to get Evan Turner as our 6th man!

He looked like an all star the first few months than it looked like he quit on the 76ers.

I'm fine with it. Granger wasn't doing what he needed to do. It wasn't working. Turner wasn't working for Philly. Both teams basically just exchanged parts hoping they'll find a better fit in a new environment, or else will at least be an expiring. Can't improve if you don't try. I applaud the trying, because Granger wasn't going to be a solution for this team.

Oh ****! Awesome trade, Larry Bird is NOT playing! Evan Turner is a mini beast and just what the bench needed. Gives Granger an opportunity to get more minutes and earn a bigger contract next season too.

We will need to play Copeland more in the 2nd unit though, somebody has to hit 3s.

Edit1: Plus, PG and Turner are like besties.

Edit2: Granger fans I know you're hurt but this is objectively an amazing trade. He wasn't gonna be here after this season anyway.

As for the trade, well I mentioned liking Turner, both as a guy who I think has untapped upside, someone who can fill the bench wing role this year, and as a backup plan to Lance leaving next year. Good piece for us to acquire.

Sad about Granger, but that's just business in the NBA. Guess Larry is no Donnie Walsh when it comes to sentiment towards long time players.

The salary floor really doesn't matter much. If they didn't hit it, they would just have to pay however much below the floor they are (say, $10 million) to the rest of their roster, equally. So each player would ostensibly get a bonus for their contributions to Riggin' for Wiggins.

where are those that were saying it was a boring trade deadline day.

    Sad to see Danny go.

I know nothing about Allen. can he help us this season?

Evan Turner? Let me think on this

I feel as bad for Danny as anyone else here but.... This is literally 10x what I thought we would be able to get for Granger....

A HIGH quality, versatile swingman to come off the bench, taking on NO extra salary for next year to affect our resigning of Lance PLUS insurance in case Lance bolts? Freaking Un Be Lievable.

That Granger is a big loss for the other Sixers, who would be splitting several million dollars if PHI fell under salary floor.

Damn Granger is going to be hated in that locker room lol. I doubt most of the players knew of the new CBA rule making the team pay the players the difference if they don't meet the salary floor.

This is adding another mercurial player to the roster. By my unofficial tally, we are up to three now: Lance, Bynum, Turner.
