Turner's stats this year aren't a whole lot different than Paul's last year. Granted different situations, but the kid can play.

I think Evan Turner is going to fit in very nicely with Indiana. I'd be a little tiny bit worried if I was Lance...

True. This move forces Lance to show he can play smarter and more consistent.
Nope. It cements Lance as a member of the starting unit for the foreseeable future. It means we can rest him a little more when the other starters rest, since Turner is more than capable of being a playmaker.

He really did raise the bar on brazen tanking. His reward: The 3rd pick in the draft.
I'm not sure if this is a jab at the Sixers or not. They basically traded most of their Players that have any value and got back 2nd round picks for them.

Last year was a completely different situation. Its not that Danny won't be on the court with them. Its not even that he's not on the team. But its that the FO chose to move him. I'm not worried about the vets, they've been through it. But PG, Lance, Roy, they haven't. I hope they understand it. I hope they listen to West and Butler who have been through it.
I completely get what you're saying. But last year had to prepare them for this at least a little bit. Sure was still with the team, on the plane, in the locker room, on the bench, etc etc. But he wasn't an active player. He was no longer part of the intense discussing of plays and the banter that comes with playing/preparing. All I'm saying is that the nature of the relationship definitely changed last year. He was a friend who was with the team as opposed to a guy who was playing with them. If the guys were able to move on without him on the court last year, then I think they will be OK now. I don't doubt that these guys will miss his presence a lot, but I think they will ultimately be OK with it.

He's been cemented for quite a while, but now has a capable player that can play his position on the bench. At no time this season did I ever consider Granger a threat to take away Lance's starting spot.

I do hope Vogel gives Turner more minutes than Granger was getting. Not that Danny deserved more. But Turner is too good to get 20-22mpg. Plus we can play Lance a bit less.

I expect to see more Lance with the starterrs in the first and third, and less with the bench in the second and fourth.

Sorry, sorry. I'm really happy though

I love Granger. We've got Reggie, Smits, Dale, JO, Granger... I love them all. I just think this was an amazing move. I do think Turner is better than Granger as of today as he's still trying to get back into the game. We also added an athletic big that I think is probably better than Mahinimi. We lost Granger but we gained a much better chance at a championship and didn't lose the ability to re-sign Stephenson.

I've actually argued with people over my like for Granger. Doesn't mean I can't see what's good for this team and this move was amazing for the team.

What's Granger's PPG going to be in Philly?

We weren't going to be under the cap, so I don't think cap hold affects anything for us (I don't think cap hold determines if you have to use the taxpayer MLE vs. the regular MLE)
Yes, it does count as regular salary for which MLE a team is eligible for.

I don't know how that works...I thought buying players out still counted against the cap, maybe I'm wrong though.

Cried for 5 minutes. No lie. Granger has always been my favorite Pacer and always will. Became a Pacer fan in 05. Just makes me angry that it had to be to the 76ers.

I was joking around with a friend of mine last night that "Well this is the year we're least likely to make any sort of moves whatsoever at the trade deadline and that wouldn't bother me at all, so watch this be the year something crazy happens."

I think I might have had Indiana getting Turner in a potential trade I posted in the trade forum or on Reddit. I really didn't think Larry would go for Turner. I figured he'd want a pure shooter. But he landed a shooter who can defend well, and is a two-way player like PG. Interesting. But when Copeland played last night, I thought that meant Danny was getting traded. I also felt this was the reason why we hadn't seen Cope all season.

Had they played Copeland, then Danny comes back HOT. That creates an issue at the SF slot. But Danny didn't come back HOT as expected. Hence why last night, they started the Copeland era. It was either Danny or Scola who would get traded today. And considering Scola's issue might just be the elbow? It meant Danny would be the one. Also, for those of you thinking Scola needs time to rest and get treatment for his elbow....maybe Lavoy Allen allows Scola to go on IR for maybe a few games?

I'm going out on a limb and say he never scores a point in a sixer uniform.

People, get over your love fest with Granger. Let's face reality: he's 30 years old, his skills are diminishing, and he's being overpaid. This trade was a stroke of genius.

I'd hope that it reduces Lance and PG24s minutes to a healthy 33+ mpg.

    GH - 31 mpg
    PG24 - 33 mpg
    Lance - 33 mpg
    CJ - 20 mpg
    Turner - 27 mpg

My God....look at our Guard/Forward rotation:

    GH/PG24/Lance/Turner/CJ

Yep, and I think it was after one of the West coast games back in Jan, Roy tweeted at like 2AM our time something like "I'm the Captain now!"

So you wonder how long the team has known they were definitely moving Granger. Wonder if that could explain some of the sluggishness from the team. They knew this was coming and were just waiting on it to happen.
