If he calls it a career could he come back to the Pacers in an FO capacity this season? I assume the CBA says nothing about that, right?

Danny washed up, done. Old man legs without a shot and to lazy to work on getting his legs back to where they should be. Makes sense why he was traded.
Too lazy? Do you realize how much work it took to make it back in the first place? Let's not act like dude is just out there getting straight embarrassed. He's not exactly Shawn Kemp out there (which is what you're basically insinuating) As poorly as he played, and shot, he still was able to average 8 ppg and 4 rebs (with several games of scoring in double figures) on a championship contending team.

Is he what he used to be? Obviously no he isn't. But to make it seem like he's some lazy player who could barely crack the rotation of any NBA team, or wasn't able to contribute AT ALL is definitely false.

Why would he want to do that right now? That would be like becoming a wage fry cook at a McDonald's restaurant after you were fired from a cushy highly paid executive position at McDonald's corporate offices . I doubt he wants to have his nose rubbed in the fact that he was traded away when the team is on the cusp of a potential NBA Finals run.

Danny Granger has over 60 million reasons to just call it a career at this point. You can call that laziness if you want. I call that a hell of a 9 year stretch.
He made almost $1 million a game for the last 2 years.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/...1/splits/2014/

On 0 days rest (the 2nd night of a back-to-back) he's shot 33.3% from the field.

On 1 day rest he's shot 37.5% from the field.

On 2 days rest he's shot 38.2% from the field.

On 3 or more days rest he's shot 39.1% from the field.

All awful, but they do get marginally better as he gets more time off. So I guess the main takeaway is that, if he can find a way to get on with the contender that only plays 1 game a week in the playoffs, he might have a chance to be a real positive contributor.
Same link that you used -> http://www.basketball-reference.com/...1/splits/2014/

On 0 days rest he shot 6/26 (23.1%) from 3. 8 game sample size.

On 1 day rest he shot 17/41 (41.5%) from 3. 13 game sample size.

On 2 day rest he shot 4/16 (25%) from 3. 4 game sample size.

On 3 day rest he shot 3/7 (42.9%) from 3. 3 game sample size.

    There are no back to backs in the playoffs so let's see how the last 3 add up. 17+4+3 = 24. 41 + 16 + 7 = 64.

    24/64 equals 37.5%.

In other words, the numbers indicate that he would still be a valuable shooting option for a contending team in the playoffs.

Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.

Or if he's calling it a career it would mean he probably realizes this is the best for everybody and as part of the FO he can still participate. Would he maybe also realize our chance to win that ring were less with him vs with Turner?

This whole idea that Danny now has a complete hate on for the Pacers and would never want to darken our doorsteps again because he was treated shabbily and turned out dishonorably is a bit silly. I mean, if he really felt that way about it he wouldn't have bothered to show up to practice before leaving, and even if he did he certainly would have completely snubbed the FO guys who were there.

We do have former Pacer players affiliated with the team who at one point or another were traded away - that didn't suddenly make them hate the organization. An FO position isn't like being a "fry cook" - it's like getting to hang around with your buddies after you retired.

Agreed, I could understand him being angry at the team, especially immediately after finding out, but only in the same way one might get mad at a friend for going to a movie without them after saying they wanted to go with you.

They don't want him signing with a team that can use him to defend Blake.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Danny Granger bought out. Looking for the source lol

    Granger, Sixers reach buyout agreement
    By David Aldridge, TNT analyst
    Posted Feb 26, 2014 5:01 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers and forward Danny Granger reached agreement on a buyout Wednesday that will allow Granger to sign with another team and be eligible for the postseason.

Granger will now choose between elite playoff teams looking to add the best possible player available. According to sources, Granger is looking at five teams: the Clippers, Rockets, Bulls, Heat and Spurs. He is expected to make his decision by Friday.

Over OKC? I mean they might beat them, but no way are they favorites.

At this point, Granger isn't good enough to swing the scales in anyone's favor.

They beat OKC over the weekend in OKC. OKC has looked weak ever since Westbrook returned. I think the Clippers, adding Big Baby and Danny just make them a stronger team. OKC looks very thin behind Durant and Westbrook. They didn't add anyone new before the deadline or during the buyout sweepstakes. Clippers have added one more veteran piece, and now might add a second one.

Probably not, but OKC should've added him for his shooting at least. I just don't see OKC as a strong favorite right now. The way they've played since Westbrook returned. And now Kendrick Perkins is out for 6 weeks with the groin injury. They're down a big man.

I just hope he doesn't sign with Miami. Hopefully he signs with the Clippers or Rockets.

I feel like he STILL has enough to be effective especially with motivation against his former team.

I doubt it. I think Houston, Clippers are better than them right now. Spurs may not get healthy in time. Also they actually look old this season.

SA's record against top teams is atrocious. They've padded their record on cupcakes this year.

According to this the Clippers and Spurs are in a battle to land Danny but he's also expected to listen to offers from the Bulls, Mavs, and Rockets.
Danny is far from done, as I've said before I think we're seeing a situation where he'll be a better player during year 2 of his return then he is year 1. He'll go to the team that he feels is the best fit and offers him a guarantee on the minutes he wants.
I expect Danny to pick up his scoring quite a bit if he picks the Clippers.
