According to Candace, Danny's physical is on Saturday*, and I believe the league won't let any of the traded guys play until they've all passed physicals, in case the trade gets rescinded (cf Tyson Chandler to OKC trade in 2009). It's very rare of course, but have to cover all possibilities.

*Edit: Whoops, seems I remembered wrong. CB's tweet said "tomorrow" yesterday, so yeah the players can be cleared soon.
Nothing should be taken for granted considering Granger's knees.

Thank God!!! Most overrated Pacer in history. When OJ went to the D-League, Granger was literally the worst player on our roster. Sick and f'ing tired of all the excuses made for Granger's lack of shooting, on/off ball movement, ball handling ability, desire to compete defensively, or protecting the basketball. The man held us back and it wasn't until he was injured that we flourished. One good season on a bad team does not make you a great player, especially if it's followed by 5 years of awful-average.
I have never been a huge Granger fan, but I always kinda thought that Croshere fella was more overrated.

Can't you waive the physical? Why wouldn't Phillie waive it, they didn't trade for him to have him play. Teams trade players all the time that aren't even in the league. I could see the Pacers requiring it for Turner and if some hidden injury was there then nullify the trade, but not Phillie. It almost has to work that way....

Yeah but this was the difficult part of their schedule, and a relatively easy part of ours. They are playing well we are not.
Did Wade play in all of those games? I bet Miami loses a few more-to-come when they have to sit Wade.....??

This is yet another example of why Larry Bird is basically the best executive in the business. Dude has added Scola, Bynum, and Evan Turner over the last 7 months, and that's after building a top 3 or so core from 2008-2012.

You can't let sentimental feelings get in the way of maxing out a championship opportunity. The Pacers have a golden opportunity this season.
It is also another message from Bird to the team. "Do you guys want to win a title, or sit and whine? Maybe you don't want it enough." This is an example of the competitive fire Bird possesses that our team itself has not shown. Time to poop or get off the pot, guys.

Woke up today still feeling good about the trade even though I will miss Granger a lot. I was willing just to wait it out and see if he could get his old form back and there were signs but not enough IMO to not pull this trade.

The real question will be chemistry and how much can be done in 20 some games to build this team up to the level that will be even better than what Granger provided as the sixth man.

I also wonder if the Pacers will ever trout out a Stephenson-Turner-George-West-Hibbert lineup. Turner, being a much lesser version of Penny Hardaway, is capable of playing point forward, and we know Lance can bring it up as well. Size wise, that's eerily similar to the '95 Magic position by position.

I am personally more excited that we can actually run a fast break when Lance leaves the game. The Pacers fast break efficiency was bad at 22 while Philly was at 12. I like easy points as long as we don't get suckered into running too much.

Miami is 9-6 in the 15 games Wade has missed this season. They are 30-8 with him in the lineup.

It's comparable to our struggles on second night of back to back where we are 8-7, and then 33-6 in other games. And as Zach Lowe points out virtually every time we lose on twitter, back to backs do not exist in the playoffs.

Do you think there is any possibility Granger will be bought out and then signed by Miami?

I really don't see why they need him unless they decide to replace Lewis. Miami needs a big. It would suck for Danny to sign there because obviously wouldn't be able to root for him, but he's not going to threaten us all. He's a terrible matchup against all of our wings, and he can't guard West in the post.

Um Granger is pretty damn strong. I think he could hold his own against David West. Excellent post defender.

Turner and Lavoy not playing tomorrow per Candace.

Also sending an e-hug to Larry Bird for the Danny's always been my favorite quote.

Lot of updates on Candace's twitter.

Nothing groundbreaking or anything. Philly's the ones that initiated the talks. Danny didn't get shopped around. Moving him was hard because Danny was "always his favorite."

Well if Miami wants to hitch their wagon to that they can be my guest. Much as I love Granger and respect him as a post defender the way West plays would be very tough for him to handle.

Granger 'Pissed' When Told Of Trade, Could Sign With Heat Or Spurs

    Feb 21, 2014 11:53 AM EST

Danny Granger was "pissed" when he learned that he had been traded by the Indiana Pacers to the Philadelphia 76ers, according to a league source.

Granger had spent his entire career with the Pacers' organization.

Many around the NBA expect Granger to sign with either the Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs assuming he is waived.

I think he and Allen will play Saturday. They probably arrived in Indy today. Once physicals are done, they should be able to practice tomorrow. Philly to Indy is just a 90 minute flight.

Yes, a RealGM report by an unnamed author that references a "source" and a single tweet from a Boston Globe columnist. Must be legit.

Not trying to bag on Danny, but if that's true, then maybe he should have shown a little more fire when he played this season. I hate when guys are "pissed" because they are called on not living up to expectations. If you don't want to get traded, play better.
