His last days as a pacer were the 2012 playoffs. Let's be honest.
Good point. I'll never forget this play from the 2012 playoffs which I still believe is the main reason Danny's career went to crap. This is why I'll always hate Lebron. Seriously F&#( YOU LEBRON!

Sucks about OJ too. I always thought he'd end up being a good player somewhere else, his skill set just didn't fit our roster.

Who steps up as our hype man now? Ian?
The Suns should swoop in and sign OJ. He totally fits that offense. Plus then they'd have 3 guys the Pacers gave up on that end up being productive.

Edit: Or the Lakers! D'Antoni would like him and I think he'd do very well there. Plus they need bodies.

The 76ers do not care if they win another game all season. Turner was going to leave this off season. We are giving them another second round pick. What does keeping Turner do for them? Nothing.
Keeping Turner actually works against their main goal for the season. Tank hard Philly, tank hard.

This is yet another example of why Larry Bird is basically the best executive in the business. Dude has added Scola, Bynum, and Evan Turner over the last 7 months, and that's after building a top 3 or so core from 2008-2012.
Scola isn't looking like a good move at all right now, and Bynum is uncertain at best. I do like the Turner move, and obviously Larry assembling the Five is great.

The thing is though, Joe Dumars also went through a stretch were he built a great starting 5 and even won a chip, and now he can't do anything right. Time enough to celebrate Bird's genius if his latest moves work out.

It's a deal you have to make, I think. When it comes to title chances, they only come around so often. This hurts a bit more just because it's a longstanding leader that gets the short end of the stick.

I was at the Blazers game a few weeks back and wondered to myself if that was the last time I'd watch Granger in a Pacers uniform live. Turns out it was.

But I really like this deal for the Pacers. It hurts now, but a trophy could cure that.

Scola had a damn good start to the season and was one of the better bench players in the NBA for a couple of months. He is slumping, but that trade was a huge win at the time.

This just tells you what value Players have when Teams know that they won't be re-signing them. The Sixers got multiple 2nd round picks for 2 quality Players....Hawes and Turner. No matter what you think of them....whether they are a Starter or not.....both Hawes and Turner are considered ( at worst ) solid rotational Players that should be able to get some solid minutes on a roster somewhere.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

Read all the replies to my (and other posters) sentiments about the deal.

    Still hate it.

I'd rather take my chances at a title by sticking with the guys who got you to this point than taking advantage of some team tanking giving you assets for your one-time franchise player.

I'm not sitting here saying it's not a good basketball move. I watch every game too, and I'm not an idiot.

But you also have to consider, Danny is extremely close with guys like Paul and Roy.

We thought signing Bynum had potential locker room implications?! This has the potential to be MUCH worse.

I don't know, whatever. I probably shouldn't allow myself to post for a few days, to be honest. But I can't bring myself to do it.

Just really busted up over this whole thing. It just sucks.

There is one issue that could complicate things. The Pacers have to make offers to restricted free agents by the end of June. I'm not sure they can even negotiate with Lance until July 1st. The risk is that Turner could immediately sign his qualifying offer before the Pacers can negotiate a contract with Lance and pull the deal. If Tuner decides to test the market the Pacers are fine, but that's a big risk. They may end up renouncing Tuner for that reason.
Good call. But would Turner really sign his qualifying offer? That seems doubtful as he would rightly seek a multiyear deal instead, so I expect he'd hold off on signing. But yeah if we get an agreement with Lance, we'd immediately renounce Turner's rights probably.

I figured Green and Plumlee might have played in Phoenix, but not on a team that is 11 games over .500 in late February. No one saw that coming. Not even Phoenix.

Let's be honest here (emotions aside), Larry got two 25 year old contributors with expiring contracts for a 30 year old and a 2nd round pick. The Legend is really ****ing good at his job.

Allen is insurance if (when, it would seem now) we exercise the right to cut Scola's deal, and Turner is insurance if Lance ends up costing way too much money. I mean good Lord Larry, don't hurt 'em.

This is the only thing that concerns me with the trade actually. Our guys are young. They haven't dealt with this yet. Granger was well liked. He was like a big brother to PG. We already saw Hibbert's tweet. This will not be a popular move in the locker room, but they need to understand this move. They need to understand this is a business.

Think they will be more comfortable to rest Scola (saw reports he's been icing his shooting elbow heavily after games lately, thus possibly why he has been having shooting troubles) now they have Allen?

I have a sneaking suspicion Kevin Pritchard played no small role in this deal, either.

Put it this way - no 1st round pick changed hands this trade deadline. That's how much teams value those things. Heck, that's how we snagged Turner for a second rounder. If we had waited, we might have stolen Scola (who probably would have been rotting on the Suns' bench) for a lot less. Or used the pick on a better player, like Deng perhaps.

So what do you guys usually do with player's jerseys who aren't on the team anymore? I can't exactly wear it anymore. Maybe I'll pack it away and wear it again 10 years down the road when its obscure like a hipster (or hoopster).

Does picking up Turner give Vogel a better option to try Lance at point guard?

He could have done that before if he wanted to. This doesn't change it.
