where are those that were saying it was a boring trade deadline day.

For once...some trade discussions went beyond 3pm EST and it actually happened!

I know I am in the minority here, but I'm a sentimental kinda guy. Trading someone who has been the face of your franchise and a model player through some BAD times, who finally starts working their way back from injury when the team is finally a championship caliber team... Man, that's just flat out cold.

I get that (maybe) this is a positive move from a pure basketball perspective. But I am the kinda guy that wants to do things with a certain class and sense of loyalty.

    This hurts. It really hurts.

Danny deserved the chance to try to go out a Pacer a champion.
It sucks for Danny. But then again does it really suck for Danny?

We've paid him millions of dollars, and there really is no loyalty left in sports.

It's all about the dollar sign and winning. If we wouldn't have paid him back in '09, he'd have bolted and not just stayed for cheap because we drafted him here.

The only thing that sucks is that he isn't going to be part of whatever this team does the rest of the year. He did deserve that chance.

But in the end, it's business and doing whatever helps the Indiana Pacers

My advice, try not to get as attached to players. Remember, as much as they may love playing here, it's a business, and it's about what helps the team get that first NBA championship and what helps keep them contenders.

Good luck and thanks for everything Danny!

The Sixers visit Bankers Life on Monday March 17th. Less than a month. I would think (and hope) the home crowd would give him a massive ovation.
I doubt Granger even plays for them, unless he goes into crazy looking for the most amount of money role. I can easily see him taking some sort of buyout out of Philly. I loved Granger, but as I saw someone post...he didn't have the fire, or emotion, or passion that he had when he was the man, he was sort of going through the motions out there.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. Turner always seemed like a pretty good player, but lacked athleticism to be anything more than a pretty good player.

So who's got the stones to start the Danny Granger Appreciation Thread. Not sure I can stomach to do it right now.

I'll miss him too buddy. But he couldn't get a ring if he was holding us back. And he was.

And if we want to blame Lance for Danny's lack of production then we have to blame Paul George as well. Whenever Lance left and Granger can in, Danny played just as bad.

Btw, I liked Lavoy Allen back in his rookie year. A bit similar to Pendy, but better. Not sure what's happened to him since. I expect he'll get a shot at a rotation role, especially with Scola struggling.
Yes, he can play I loved him at Temple. He will get PT down the stretch if we keep him. He didn't fit in with Brown's style in Philly he is better suited for a slower pace team. Plus he has been out of shape and some trouble off the floor I believe.

So...really going out there...but what if Sixers buy-out Granger...and he signs with the Heat in spite after they cleared a roster spot...I think PD would riot.

That would suck but I can't really fault him either the Pacers were the ones that let him go so he's free to do what he wants.

This is the type of deal in the past we would have heard about in 3 hours that we missed the deadline by like 3 minutes because Morway was taking a dump or something.

If the rumor that the Sixers made this just to get above the Salary Cap floor.....wouldn't buying Granger out put them back under the Floor ( something that they clearly do not want to do )?

Had to be a emotionally tough convo between Danny.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

I really feel for Danny. I'm hoping this doesn't affect the team's attitude. Everyone looked up to Danny in a way, and now he's gone. Good basketball move. Good money move. I'm just a sentimental guy.

I fully expect Granger to be bought out, and Miami did just cut a player to free up a roster spot...

I don't know how that works...I thought buying players out still counted against the cap, maybe I'm wrong though.
