Fantastic move. Gets them out from under the granger conundrum.

Let's call a spade a spade. The pacers have been crap since he came back. He doesn't fit and he can't play anymore.

I wouldn't say crap, but maybe crap by the standards they have set this year.

He clearly wasn't producing much. Averaging 8 points and Butler is more automatic behind the 3 point line than Danny, which was basically all Danny was being used for so far

Nothing. Both Turner and Allen expire at the end of the season. Turner, as he was the #2 overall pick in the draft, has a $9 million cap hold though.

We weren't going to be under the cap, so I don't think cap hold affects anything for us (I don't think cap hold determines if you have to use the taxpayer MLE vs. the regular MLE)

We would just have to renounce our rights to Turner as a restricted free agent, otherwise that money is tied up and we couldn't sign Lance to his new contract. Not a major issue, just a note.

Not true. We have Bird rights for Lance, cap hold doesn't affect it.

Nah, no such issues at all, major or minor. You're thinking about lux tax, which only matters at the end of the year. Cap wise we simply operate as an over-the-cap team.

Hopefully this is buried deep enough in this thread that I can avoid getting blasted for it.

Personally, I would kinda like to see Lance and Turner on the floor together. Not only do I think they can co-exist, I think they can flourish and be a problem for opponents defensively.

I cannot tell you how many times this year I have seen Lance be first up the floor with the ball against 4 defenders and have to wait out on the wing while the rest of the group jog up, often times even WAVING his teammates up the floor (normally in vain). I've seen Turner be discredited a bit on this forum for having played in a fast pace offense in Philly. I hope Lance and Turner end up on the court together and add that dimension to the Pacers before playoffs roll around. Let one group grind and bang and tire out opponents, and the next group push the tempo when those exhausted defenders can't keep up and have to foul.

    Go Pacers.

The concern with them both on the floor is that the defense would pack the paint. I'm thinking that they will play together some but probably more when Scola and/or Copeland are on the floor too.

I hate to see Granger go but I think Turner will really flourish in Indy.

I like Danny but this really helps our bench for THIS YEAR. I prefer Evan Turner to Granger.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

As others have said, this could very well be your Lance replacement if offers get out of hand. Interesting move. I prefer to think in terms of this year, and I think this helps us. I defended Granger but it's pretty clear he wasn't going to help this team win a title. Turner is better.

Ignoring the emotional attachment to Granger......this all depends on what else was given up for Turner.

I hope it's nothing more than one of the 2nd round picks.

Evan Turner is a restricted free agent, so the Pacers can match any offer if they want.
