Default Danny Granger and the all time scoring list

Sadly due to the fact that Danny lost a season the dream of him retiring as the second all time leading scorer in Pacers history is probably out of reach. However he still has an opportunity to move up the list and surpass some of the all time Pacer greats.

As of today Friday February 7, 2014 Danny has 9,526 points at the 8th spot.

Vern Fleming has 9535 at the 7th spot.

In theory Danny could surpass him tonight playing Portland.

After that George McGinnis sits 9545 at # 6.

There is a super rare off shoot chance but he could get him tonight as well but I doubt it.

Then sitting at # 5 is Jermaine O'Neal at 9580.

As long as things go well he should be able to catch him in the next couple of weeks.

Sadly that is probably it, he might be able to catch Roger Brown at # 4 but I'm not sure.

Either way Danny will be passing Pacer royalty in the next couple of games.

Wow that really says good something both for Danny and for J.O. its not like J.O. spent his entire career here so he really put up the points while he was here and for the most part they were contenders.

Wow, I didn't realize that spots 5 through 8 were separated by a mere 54 points right now. Yeah, he will obviously be sitting in the 5th spot very very soon.

He needs 533 points to pass Brown. With 34 games left, he would have to average 15.67 points the rest of this season. Not impossible, but seems unlikely given his 22 MPG and depth of the team.

Vern Fleming is really the epitome of longevity paying off. He never averaged more than 14.3 points in a season, but he was a decent scorer for the bulk of his 11 years here and all of that adds up over time.

Who on the current roster will join Danny in the top 10 someday? PG seems like a given. Hibbert through 5 and a half seasons is sitting at 4820 points. He should also be able to get into the top 10 if he plays here over a decade. If we keep Lance after this year, then I definitely wouldn't bet against him given his sky high potential.

So DG is already in, PG is basically a given, Hibbert is more likely than not at this point since I don't see him leaving, and Lance is possible if we keep him this summer and he plays here another 8 or so years.

It will be a big deal when someone catches Smits someday and then has the task of chasing down Miller. PG could certainly give it a run if he has longevity and never leaves.

Man, if he didn't miss last season we are probably talking about him possibly ending the season number 2.

Man Reggie was just a beast.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

Well if we lose Lance and sign Granger as a backup plan he can get there at least

I hope Granger can get to 10000 points at least anyway with the Pacers.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I have put a lot of thought into what Granger has meant to the franchise. All arguments against and complaints aside, IMO Granger has had one of the most impressive and prolific careers in Pacers history. I know there isn't the best of chances he'll be around past the current season or maybe even the trade deadline but I certainly feel a great a bit of gratitude and indebtedness for what Granger has given us these past 9 years. I really hope we can deliver a ring to him this year as a member of the Pacers.

The idea of Mel and Freddie dropping off blows my mind. I realize PG Lance and Hibbert are a long way away from that and you never know what the future holds. Add the better medical tech available today and you want to start adding * for modern era. Of course you also have to take into account the better D right now than in the 70's.

I imagine it's as much to do with longevity as anything else. I mean doesn't Reggie Miller (of all people) lead the franchise in total assists or steals or something like that?

Yep, both. Oddly, he isn't the all-time leader in fouls. Rik Smits did some serious hacking to take that crown away from Reggie.

Also, Troy Murphy and his penchant for pilfering rebounds from teammates paid off: He is the Pacers' all-time leader in Defensive Rebound %.

Roy already 5th in blocks. Nice.

Whether you like JO or not, there is no denying that he absolutely tore up the stat sheets. He's all over the place when you look at cdash's link.

People like to forget just how good JO was because how things ended. Sure he wasn't the same player in 05/06 as he was earlier, but there is a reason he was a 6 time all star. He was damn good.

Danny Granger Indiana Pacers Top Ten Lists

    3P FGM - 2
    3P FGA - 2
    FTM - 8
    FTA - 10
    Steals - 7
    Blocks - 7
    Points - 7
    PPG - 10
    OWS - 8
DWS - 10 (1 of 4 players to make both DWS and OWS top ten alongside Reggie, Rik, and Dale)
TWS - 8 (only player in the top ten to not be in the top ten of either games played or minutes played)

Granger is certainly one of the top 10 Pacers all time to date.

Side note, I still can't wrap my head around David Harrison being ranked number 2 in Block %.
Anyone here ever see Bob Netolicky play?

These numbers are great and all, but I'd be surprised if Copeland and 'Sual aren't duking it out for the number 1 spot when it's all said and done.
